A comedic solo show which explores the grieving process from condolence cards, to funeral fashion to confronting God.
Mary Carpenter’s (Second City, ComedySportz & 1812 Productions) solo show is a hilarious ride on the roller coaster of grief. From condolence cards to funeral fashion and beyond, she guides you through the often perilous, always surprising and laugh out loud funny path from woe to wonder.
Originally developed through the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Residency and given its premiere at the 2010 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, The New & Improved Stages of Grief is going to the Capital Fringe in Washington DC. The Philadelphia Inquirer says the piece "balances humor with reflection, never allowing the material to become maudlin." And the City Paper claims that "Death has never been funnier than in Mary Carpenter's Stages of Grief...this is a tight, polished never-indulgent hour which Carpenter guides with skill, wit, and genuine feeling."
So now it is time to take the show on the road and I need help to bring this production to DC. I'm looking for funding to cover the cost of making my set mobile (acquiring a projector, screen and other key set elements), to supplement marketing costs (postcards, posters, postage, etc),and to help with Fringe fees and travel costs.
Please consider helping me bring this project to a wider audience and find laughter where we least expect it.
