My novel. Encapsulates the garage music scene of the early 2000s and chronicles the lives of three of its heedless upstarts.
Dear friends, family and patrons of the Arts,
After four years of toil, both on my behalf and with the help of my editor, Ashley Gates, I have reached an end to what I'm sure will be the defining, writing project of my life. This modest novel is titled, Self Booked, True Tales of The Spinns. The book, which is about 50,000 words (200 pages) in length, is based on the five years or so I spent touring the country in my first significant band, The Spinns. The story is non-fiction narrative, thereby encapsulating a particular trend in the music biz of the time, but is embellished for smoothness and to drive home an age old point: That we only live once, so we'd better take our chances and make the most of it.
Just to be clear, yes, the book is finished. I am merely asking for your support to see that Self Booked sees the light of day as a self-published novel (how else would one produce a book called Self Booked?!) Just so you know, the book is called "Self Booked", because the events within, take place at the dawning days of the internet, when bands on truly independent record labels booked their own tours via snail mail and phone calls. Like I said, Self Booked does encapsulate a specific time and place in music business history. Mostly however, it is one hilarious read!
Furthermore, I should note, that your donations are needed for the wave of self-promotion I plan to unleash on the world. This includes the purchase of many copies, mailing expenses, production and distribution of glossy cards, launch party, etc. Should donations make or exceed my Kickstarter goal, that money will go toward Spinns reunion tour costs. Please donate any amount you can-even 5 bucks I'll appreciate forever, to get this hard-fought project out!
Thank you very much for your consideration,
