12 artists / 2 music collectives / 1 night community art event
In the past two years, the Twin Cities have witnessed a pervasive cultural movement toward inclusion, collaboration, and community accountability. Rage to Order, the curating team of Amzie Wendt and Rachel Wacker, was established to respond to this new demand for collaborative community art events.
THE SHOW
Rage to Order’s debut show, IN IT 2012 : OLD FRIENDS/NEW WORK is designed to visually communicate the idea that works of art are portals. Utilizing the live work of twelve visual artists and a series of projections of the work, IN IT is a spiraling fractal of invitations to cross over the threshold into the still image.
OLD FRIENDS with NEW WORK include:
Tony Angelino
Danny Barstad
Matt Brutger
Scott Demeranville
Ronnie Droher
Meat – Jeffery Paul Gadbois
Casey Gunsch
Ashley Hanson
Tim Harlan-Marks
Miriam Houg
Husein
Benjamin Kelley
Brian Laidlaw
Sara Larson
John Marlow
CL Martin
Ben Radecki
Jeremy Schock
Scuba Steve
Pavel Shepelenko
Matt “Poohki” Ward
Dan Weiken
Kristoffer West Johnson
All of the art is non-commissioned, and a live soundtrack for the event is being supplied by the YES!LETS collective of Minneapolis and FOURTH & WALL of St. Paul. The event will take place at the Jax Artist Studios on Feb. 3, in conjunction with the Lowertown First Friday’s open studios.
THINKING ABOUT MONEY IN A NEW WAY
Rage to Order intends to plant a revolutionary seed in the Twin Cities art scene. Rather than borrowing works of art in exchange for exposure, Rage to Order will rent. Every participating artist and musician will be paid for the use of their work in the creation of an art-centric, community event. The one night event will be followed by a wrap-up brunch for all participating artists, volunteers, and extra-generous backers!
Your donations will help pay the artists, supply refreshments, and cover the typical expenses associated with an exhibit. Expenses include: paint, hardware, lighting, projecting equipment and advertisement. Donations collected in excess of the budget for IN IT 2012 will be used for future Rage to Order exhibition-events.
LOVE AND GRATITUDE
"Thanks to all of you who use Kickstarter as a way to support the arts. Special thanks to those of you who back our project and help us advocate for artists in the Twin Cities. We hope that you will all join us on Feb 3, 2012!" -r2o
