Update #13: Countdown - A few more hours

Posted on August 10, 2010

Here is a recreation scene of a dancing club. John hired 20 people to have their hair done in bee hive, dressed up in period clothe and do the Monkey dance... All this was shot in a real club the Chaktomuk a boat at the outskirt of Phnom Penh.

Very cool, John. Can't wait to see this thing finished. As for me, I'm in Ukraine and Crimea for the next three months on a movie. We're shooting in 3D -- which I hate -- but it's good to be working, at least. Anyway, continued luck on the project. Amazing stuff.

Update #12: COUNTDOWN DAY 2 - a film technicallity discussion

Posted on August 9, 2010

John is doing a time lapse of Battambang Market. Many singers and musicians came from Battambang, the same for writers and poets. They say the most Khmer women are from Battambang, and here we thought the best durian came from there...Luckily the pre-war singers recorded many songs about Cambodian provinces, especially Sin Sisamouth.

Kanitha was John's assistant that day, she did great although was confused of John's question but her expression is worth a look

ONLY TWO (2) DAYS TO GO... let's all enjoy this film technical discussion

Wow, it must be crunch time if you're pulling in the likes of Kanitha. I had the pleasure of being her assistant at one big event. She is one outstanding and capable young woman. Please pass her along my greetings.

Update #11: COUNTDOWN DAY 3 - the return home

Posted on August 8, 2010

CAN WE MAKE IT TO 7000$?

After the end of the KR, Phnom Penh was safe again for people to returning living. In order to let people know they had to announce it on speakerphones throughout the city, in villages nearby.
Here we installed a speaker phone up so we shot it with the Villa in the background.
