About this project
Nightingale is a project from the heart. Writer/Director/Cinematographer Cath Gulick teamed up with long-time collaborator Adelina Amosco, who starred in her original translation of Euripides' Medea in 2006.

Cath was very interested in adapting the setting to the NYC Filipino community to give the film a realistic feel matching her actress's background. (For the most part, research entailed going to parties and learning how to line-dance.) Casting proved to be a challenge. But with the help of Wayne Chang of WC Casting, we were able to find a wonderful ensemble cast of Filipinos and began shooting all over New York during March-May 2011.

The main character, Eleanor, escapes her daily life by imagining a beautiful dreamworld. Central Park wasn't going to make the cut - we went to Iceland! During the midnight sun of June-July 2011, Cath, Adelina, actress Ivory Aquino and producers Niki Janowski and Marc Heller traveled around Iceland in a camper van shooting dream sequences in permanent twilight.

Upon returning, we were able to complete three shoot days, which left us only four shoot days (out of around 50 total!) until we have all our footage. We have been fundraising since then and only require $6,000 to finish this $90,000 project, now in its fourth year of production. After post-production, we have our hopes set on festival acceptance and possible distribution. Please help us make our dreams come true by supporting this project any way you can.
