'Widow' is the present development of my musical project. I'm in the final stages of an album. And I'm looking to hit the road.
Widow is the current manifestation of a musical project years in the works. Most of the songs, once spoken word pieces or poems, are now compiled and edited down from stacks of notebooks of writing over time. In 2007, I started singing them and soon after teamed up with percussionist Leah Moskowitz in a band called Bloody for Me. Various manifestations of the band included bassist Arabella Kauffmann, violist K.Dylan Edrich, and Saiya Miller on the musical saw. In the time span of our experimentations, I found a rickety but beautiful classical guitar to pluck alongside. I never would have imagined now.
It's been nearly a year since Kahan James contacted me to record and produce my music. Both of us had reached turning points, and couldn't have found a better match; he was looking for a new level of involvement in musical production, and I was clueless, computerless, but dreaming of a more tangible expression of my music. In awe, we proceeded with our curiosity, met for countless hours by light of his studio's lava lamp(!!), and with his time and generosity alongside the time and generosity of Arabella, Dylan, and Leah, we are finally approaching a complete body of work.
In the next few weeks we will finish the compiling and mixing of more than 20 songs, turning a selection of them for a full-length album over to mastering engineer Sarah Register.
In the mean time, album art (as seen in the photo on this page) by Canyon Castator will be turned over to be printed by Martin Davis.
By the end of May, and by the virtue of all of these amazing, talented independent artists, the album will be complete.
75% of the fundraiser's goal is my attempt to raise money for the final stages of production, all of which will be paid directly to the artists who have been so kind as to offer their skills to help manifest this project.
I am near to exploding with gratitude to have these people in my life.
In June, I am booking an East Coast tour with Yva Las Vegas, Shadow Lover , and Felix + the Future. With the good fortune of friends and their friends, we have plans to play with different local bands/musicians from town to town, and we've confirmed more than half of our tour dates at some very interesting small galleries, theaters, houses, and small venues. So far, our stops/dates include:
06/01 Dowelltown, TN
06/08 New Orleans, LA
06/12 Charleston, SC
06/13 Carrboro, NC
06/14 Baltimore, MD
06/15 Durham, NC
06/16 Asheville, NC
06/17 Baltimore, MD

Funding for gas, bus tickets, and minimal travel expenses (25% of the fundraiser's goal) will make venturing city to city without a vehicle and in some cases without a local contact a lot safer and easier to plan!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, CONSIDERATION, LOVE, & SUPPORT
