Piers struggles to find fame in a world full of modern-abstract art lovers.
It's a Joke - Help us Finish!
The film is about a classical painter struggling to became famous in a modern-abstract-art-loving world. Frustrated with people's love of talentless artists, he stubbornly tries to get people to appreciate his art until he gets frustrated. In anger he paints a joke, which he later takes too far.
Summary:
We need the money for:
- The gallery rental
- Art supplies for Production Design (canvases mostly as well as things for the set design like champagne glasses)
- One-time catering service to feed the crew
- Your awesome rewards!
Rewards:
- Signed postcards, signed script, seeing the film a week in advance, shortbook, credits, invitation to the gallery and even some of the paintings we've created! Take a look to your right! >
Who You are Supporting:
Writer, Producer, Director: Zuzana Volny - Main Actor: James Smith - Supporting Actor: Erik Batoog - First Assistant Director: Michael John Lapid - Director of Photography: Kyle Henry - Script Supervisor: Will Leoppard - Editor: Jennifer Chu
Characters:
Piers: a classical painter who believes the art he paints requires real talent, unlike the abstract art everyone else seems to be swooning over.
Bill Casady: a gallery owner as well as Piers' best friend. Bill is money-hungry and will jump on any opportunity to gain some extra cash, which is one reason he is still Piers' friend. He's hoping that one day, Piers will break his stubborn ways and paint Bill a modern-abstract masterpiece.
Society: in this exaggerated world, everyone only likes and understands modern abstract art (an example of this art is Mark Rothko). Because it's extremely popular, people are blind to their personal tastes and follow the main populace's opinion, to do so otherwise would mean ostracization.
What happens if we don't make our goal
It's simple really, you won't have your rewards and I won't have as awesome a film as I could have. I will still finish this film no matter what because it means that much to me, but I won't be able to put the money into the awesome production design it needs. This film will also be an opportunity for the crew to put it in their demo reels and their resumes. Great production value a plus. Even if you donate $1, I will be very thankful and grateful for the support.
~ THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! ~
Thanks to you, you're helping me finish my film the way it deserves to be finished, with a bang. We're all so passionate about this project and it means a lot to us when others share this passion with us, so thanks for any and all your support.
