I want to personally thank you for your patience-- the end result of this protracted creative process has finally manifested! When last I wrote an update, the release of our 6 new rounds and chants via download (that you helped fund!) was imminent, but had been delayed due to my undergoing hip replacement surgery and the ensuing healing process. It was our intention to upload them in the late winter, but then.....
Libana was on a weekend retreat mid-March on Cape Cod, and decided to give one last listen together before we sent them into the pipeline for downloading. We listened to them on a beautiful sound system, in the sequence that they would be listened to if on a physical CD. We ourselves were transported by the journey of the 6 songs together AND by the sonic quality of hearing them on good listening equipment. MP3's have their place, but we all started lamenting that our listeners would never have the option to hear this music with all acoustic dimensions and space that we hear when listening to a physical CD (and which is diminished in mp3 format for downloading). We musicians still LOVE good sound!!!
We decided right then and there that we needed to ALSO release this as an actual CD. The image of a photo that would become the cover art (taken by Marytha while Libana was in Dharamsala, India) dropped into my creative mind immediately, and as soon as I got home, all the design wheels were set into motion.
However.....that very same week, the exciting invitation to perform at the Tarab Tanger World Music Festival in Tangier, Morocco a mere 3 months later also arrived! All organizational time and resources went into creating and planning (in short order!) what turned out to be an incredible and life-altering 17 day performance and research journey for Libana through Morocco--which we have now been home from for 3 weeks!
I fully believe in the principle of right timing, and that WHEN something happens--or does not happen-- is part of the greater flow of life. It actually DOES feel like the right time to NOW--- these many months later and after immersing ourselves in Morocco--- give wing to this music (in all options of formats!) to soar around the world to our global listeners. Here is what I wrote this morning:
Instrument of Peace is a 23 minute journey through sacred space. Representing diverse spiritual traditions, and using the calming influence of song, mantra-like text and chant, these songs remind us of the peace that is available to us anywhere, anytime. Through Libana's exploration of the music and dance of cultures around the world, the diverse spiritual traditions practiced across the globe have been revealed to us, witnessed, experienced, and interwoven into our journey as a longterm creative community. After decades of performing across North America, and touring internationally to Bulgaria, Greece, North India, and now Morocco, Libana offers these deep and beautiful songs to our listeners everywhere with hope in our hearts that the seeds of peace are sown daily by us all.
Again, we thank you for your patience. Now we can all celebrate the release of Instrument of Peace! Hooray!!!
For those who wish to purchase a physical copy and have the sonic beauty of full dimension sound...we encourage you to buy it directly from us on Libana's website, as Libana receives the most benefit from the sale! Click here!
For those who wish to download, we encourage you to purchase it at CDBaby (for the same reason!). Click here!
And of course if you prefer, it is also available on itunes and all your other favorite music sites.
In addition, I have not heard back from some of you who donated to this project with a completed survey form that I sent, helping me fulfill your donation level reward. If you still want to claim your reward it is not too late. Be in touch!
We hope you will help us spread the word about our new recording. Tell your friends, post the purchase page link on your Facebook page, tweet about it, write a review of it somewhere, shout it from the rooftops!!! By doing so, you help encourage the sowing of seeds of peace everywhere.
