HELLO KICKSTARTER(S)!!!
I'm Phill Lamson owner of Gamer Geek Heroes a BRAND new small business in Amherst Massachusetts and I need your help please to make some upgrades and improvements. And to get a foothold with my 1st business so I can dig in and succeed during a time when opening or owning a business can be both tough and expensive.
WHAT IS GAMER GEEK HEROES?:
Gamer Geek Heroes is a small business idea I have worked on and have thought about since graduating from college 20+ years ago. And that I opened the beginnings of recently. Our final goal is to be a geek themed family run restaurant here in New England that makes chocolate dice and other geek themed candies for internet sales during the hours it would normally be closed at night. And sells ice cream in the summer to make up for college students leaving. We will THEN begin donating a percent of our profits to help the world and our community out. Were looking forward to that day actually. :) I've spent the last few years testing some amazing chocolates from around the world for our dice. And also testing our products and experimenting on new ones we hope to offer perhaps after the holiday season this year. I wanted to establishing the candy business first. This being my 1st business I'm going slow at the start while I get my bearings and doing my research. I wanted to get a bit of an internet foothold and do some networking before working on opening the restaurant part next. The restaurant will be easier as that's all I've ever really done in life. WHAT DO WE MAKE?:
Gamer Geek Heroes makes geek themed candies incredible tasting chocolate polyhedral gaming dice in dark, milk and white chocolate in full sets. (4,6,8,12,20 and two 10 sided dice for rolling Percentile.) In regular and JUMBO sizes. Also in 12 packs of D20's and in 6 packs of 1" D6's. As we launch our new online site we are upgrading from our last batch of tasty compound chocolate to a newer "made from Organic and Fair Trade" chocolate from Sweet Earth Chocolates. We just recently launched our website online but decided to start out here for the 2012 holiday season before it goes fully operational. This is the only spot to get our edible dice before the holidays hit as presents. Were hoping they will be available for resale after January 1st with a little luck. But until then you can try our dice NOW and say you got to try it 1st before they hit store shelves.
WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?:
We have recently persevered thru several BIG and costly noob 1st time business owners mistakes on MY part. Mistakes that prevented our start and sales during this holiday season. Which to be honest hurt a LOT financially. We AREN'T here to sell our product. We ARE here to ask for a little start up help. We have a LOT invested at this point. We have found some amazing chocolates. We found cool packaging we like. (Other then the labels. Which were working on. NOTE: When buying labels for label makers and they say 'clear labels' they tend to mean opaque we found out the hard way) We have most of what we need but RAN OUT of money to get a few last things. We need money to get more Food Grade silicone so we can make a few more molds and produce our dice faster and to afford the commercial kitchen space needed to make our product in. Both of these are VERY EXPENSIVE. That and LOTS of supplies. Maybe a professional photographer to take some good pics of our product. And if we get enough help - an expensive Tempering machine to make our numbers CRISPER. That's why we're here. We could use a little help. Please. To get started and going better from the start. Even if you don't have money you can help by sharing and spreading the word with others on Facebook, Twitter or your favorite websites and forums.
SEEMS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE. WHY?:
The best chocolates (esp. Organic and Fair Trade) aren't cheap and neither is our cool new packaging. Metal tins with clear windows that unlike typical plastic candy holders can/will be reused again we hope and not just IMMEDIATELY thrown out. A greener alternative for a dime or 2 more costs. And shipping can cost a BUNCH. Shipping chocolates requires cold packs. Especially for the warmer areas. Even for just a set or 3. Doing this in the winter helps some but we want our product to arrive looking as good as they taste. If our starting prices seem high it's for these reasons and many more. We don't mind paying a little more for the assurance of better then Fair Trade practices when it comes to the chocolates we use. We want to make darn sure we are helping chocolate workers and their families get paid WELL. Many are from VERY poor areas in 3rd world conditions. And historically they have been taken advantage of by many corporations and companies in the history of chocolate so far. And still are... :( We also have to pay the fees here for the site and Amazon both. It adds up fast and we fear if were not careful all our money will be used on rewards and defeat our reason for being here. To get help. You get 1st taste of our new great chocolates and a WHOLE BUNCH of our thanks. Were sorry if we cant give out more this time round. And hope you understand our fears. Why we did it this way and what we are trying to attempt here. We listed our amount sought low to make sure we got whatever help we could get. We could EASILY use 10 times that to improve and expand with. We wanted to make sure we succeeded. We can shoot for higher numbers once we get there. :)

Yes it is. And soy free. :) They also claim to sell the ONLY fair trade & organic white chocolate in the US!! I'm not certain about that but it's rare if not true anyways.

No. I am not. I had this idea years ago and I almost gave up on this idea when SEVERAL people began doing similar over a year ago. But I decided to follow my dream anyways. I plan on concentrating mostly on the New England area and wish them all the best. I did NOT "steal" anyone's ideas I promise. :) And to quote the FAQ here Q: "How do I know someone won't steal my idea?" A:"Being open and sharing ideas is an essential part of Kickstarter. The platform is collaborative by nature, and is a powerful community-building tool for our creators. If you are unwilling to share information about your project with potential backers then Kickstarter probably isn’t the platform for your project."

For those who have sent me messages (or called me) I apologize if ANY of my comments seemed snide or sarcastic. Since my launch I have received multiple messages cussing me out (a few nice tho) from people who obviously feel loyal to the person a year ago who Kickstarted chocolate dice here. Or think I stole the idea. I made my 1st chocolate dice and white chocolate skeletons in the 80s. I havent stolen a thing. Just took too long to be 1st is all. I thought my FAQ answer above explained things well and was to the point. I'm a little frazzled I admit and not the best PR person for handling angry accusations. Anyways I have been in touch with Mario from Dice Candies recently and he seem like a great guy. And he wishes me the best. As I do him. Im not here to steal customers or corner a market. And if you feel like what I did was still wrong after all my explaining please dont support me. Just drop the anger and smile more. Thats what lifes about. :) And then go buy LOTS of chocolates from Mario at dicecandies.com cause I hear chocolate can help curb anger issues lol :)

WHY NOT SPECIAL - I am slightly over 7 feet tall and have always dreamed of being a costumed stuntman. If your willing to pay this and later ALL expenses including travel, food, hotels and the costume (I get to keep the costume) I will gladly dress up in a bigfoot (or even a wookie costume LOL) to try to play a friendly practical joke/"punk"/scare on the show Finding Bigfoot.
