While visibly less entertaining than last weeks smorgasbord of aural/visual entertainment - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqEuFjjrHOk - this weeks program instead offers exactly what an update should offer: BREAKING NEWS. But I digress. In reality, this past week has remained relatively commonplace in the process of creating an album, consisting simply of three exactly identical procedures: listening, listening, and more listening (and a few other things mixed in there). Here's whats up.
Jordan Rast - "Fractured Love"
Track list: 1. Fractured Love | 2. SRSLY | 3. Come Easy | 4. Two Chord Song | 5. Movie Star | 6. Summer Days | 7. Apathy | 8. Heartbreak Mile | 9. We should leave each other alone. | 10. California Blues
Musicians: Jordan Rast (vocals, acoustic/electric guitar, piano,
bass), Phoebe Radcliffe (lead/harmony vocals), Rob Grote (electric guitar),
Connor Jacobus (electric bass), Evan Graver (drums)
The album was recorded in two separate home-recording studios, Jason Mundok's "Wood Stove House Studio" and my own home studio, which is as of yet nameless, but still holds similar artistic integrity (see pics below).
As of today, October 16, we are in the mastering stage of the project. We are grateful to have the help of studio manager Jon Chinn in this process, and have been sending tracks back and forth through the power of the internet, trying to obtain the best sound quality possible. It's working quite well if I may add...
We're also grateful to have the help of Jeff Sims in creating the design templates for the artwork on the physical album itself. I don't want to give the end product away, but it is, in its most basic sense, an asthetic WOW.
So there you have it. A little update. I tried to add some innovative, idealistic language to try to spark up that feeling of inspiration within your soul. Hopefully I did, and if not, I understand: I'm no journalist, I'm a musician. I should probably just let the music inspire you.
-Jordan Rast (10/16/11)
First note: The album should officially be out by mid to late November, just in time for the holiday season. I'll keep you posted with more videos, photos, and inspirational ideas while we all wait.
Second note: Check out the second picture: a look at my home studio, but also a first look at the album t-shirts!
Third note: Check out the last picture: you may feel the urge to get up and dance during your first listen of fractured love... GET READY FOLKS.
