We arrived at our goal in half the time. It's wonderful to know that so many people believe in this film. Thank you. But every little bit helps. Any additional funding received will go to festival entries, from Sundance to Berlin. It will go to more detailed, immersive effects for each shot. And we're looking at how we can make the reward packages even cooler and more collectable than ever. Keep spreading the word!

A WINDOW INTO ANOTHER WORLD

Haunted by his past and inching closer to death, an Old Man works tirelessly to finish his last creation: one that may help him fix the one mistake he deeply regrets.

From its inception on the page, Finding Ambrosia has been about one thing: immersion. We want to delight you with a visual spectacle. We want to suck you into the mystery of the Old Man's life. We want you to understand and feel what he does. 

There is no dialogue in Finding Ambrosia. It is a film that can speak universally to any audience. Everyone understands feelings of love and regret. They can get caught up in the mystery, and be delighted by the cinematic grandeur. 

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We have three major post-production tasks taunting us with their high price tags. The $4,000 is a bare-bones budget that will help us achieve these tasks.

First, color. Finding Ambrosia has a lot of it, and it really pops. Whether it's a cold, blue forest or a golden room full of warmth, color plays a major role in the emotion of each shot. And there's an incredible amount we can still do.

Alas, color correction is a technical science that requires someone far more experienced than anyone in our crew. We hope to hire an artist who can completely re-touch the film, and make every shot shine.

Second, sound. There is no dialogue, but great sound is absolutely essential when it comes to achieving immersion. Unfortunately, bad (really loud) shooting conditions ensured that we would have to do a lot of ADR (additional dialogue recording, though in our case it means additional coughing, panting, and footsteps). This requires traveling and additional equipment rentals.

As this is a fantasy story, there's a lot of unnatural, magical sounds. We have a sound mixer who is also a terrific foley artist, but this means purchasing props to create those odd sounds!

Finally, effects. There's going to be some real magic in the film, courtesy of some wonderful camerawork. But to make things even better, we need some fake magic courtesy of expensive post-production software. As is the case with color, special effects are a technical art that is beyond our level of experience. Hiring someone with real skill at that art will elevate the film to a new level.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

CAN WE EXCEED OUR GOAL? YES! That would be wonderful and ideal. $4000 is the bare minimum we need to finish the project. More money means an orchestral score, better effects, and festival upon festival entries, which means more and more publicity! There more we have, the more we can do!

CAN I HELP BEYOND DONATING? Absolutely. The most important thing is to spread the word. Tell your friends and colleagues, share it on the web, write a song about it, and mention it anywhere and everywhere!
