Vermont's 1919 movie theater needs a digital projector. We're not there yet!
Update: We did not set our Kickstarter goal at what we needed; we set
our goal low to what we thought we could raise. Now that we have reached
that goal we need to continue raising funds to complete the digital
conversion.

The Playhouse Movie Theatre is Vermont's oldest purpose built movie theater and has remained a single screen movie theater ever since. To continue seeing first run movies at the Playhouse we need to install a digital projector because the movie industry is quickly phasing out distribution of movies on film. All movies will soon be in digital format. To continue playing first-run movies requires installing a movie industry complaint projection system. Without this equipment, the theater will close.
The people of Randolph and the surrounding communities have pooled their money together to retain their movie theater and have a vested interest in its operations. We have raised $25,000 in the last few months from donations and owner shares.
Most of our movie posters have tape and or pin holes in the corners but they are a collection of authentic movie posters from the past 25 years.

Our community has rallied but we still need your help. The true cost of conversion is above the cost of a projector. In addition there are installation costs, the building of an acclimatized booth, and a 5.1 digital sound upgrade in order to be compliant with the movie industry.
We need to get to $30,000 on Kickstarter to totally fund this conversion or we will need to borrow. Much volunteer installation work will be done by our shareholders.
3D capabilities are a different story. We will need an angel to fund that expensive add-on.
