Thank you for taking a moment to check out my Kickstarter campaign!

I am in the process of curating a gallery exhibition called Turf; Ecological Activism and Art, with free lectures and workshops by participating artists.  This exhibition will be held October 31- December 4, 2011, at Diablo Valley College Art Gallery, in Pleasant Hill, California (San Francisco Bay Area). Turf is a part juried, part invitational national exhibition of professional artists whose work explores the dynamics between the natural environment, human activity, and politics.   The exhibition further explores the intersection between ecological activism and art.  The vision for the exhibition aims at exploring variety in art activism with an emphasis on ecology.  The idea for Turf began as an interest in researching contemporary work of artists in the tradition of Agnes Denes, who created Wheatfield in the Battery Park Landfill in NY, in 1982.  The concept for Turf has expanded to encompass eco-artists, as well as artists who would not immediately identity themselves as environmental artists.  I believe that this broader vision reflects a current condition in society in which ecological concern is more omnipresent.

This is a very exciting show. I believe that there is much gained from listening to these great artists and seeing their work together.  The artists include Johnna Arnold, Ellen Babcock, Vaughn Bell, Michele Brody, Reenie Charriere Stephen Galloway, Cynthia Hooper, Lisa Sanditz, Christina Seely, Abel Rodriguez, Alex Jackson, and Alexander Treu.

I have started a Kickstarter campaign in order to get help in funding the artist lecture series and workshops (led by exhibiting artists).  Also, your contributions will help cover the costs of shipping the art work from all around the country to the gallery.  All contributions will directly support the artists.

If you are new to Kickstarters, I want to explain that because projects are not funded unless the full funding goal is achieved, my $2000 goal is a minimum need for this project.  The more money raised, the better it gets, and the more I can offer the artists!!!  Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to see you at the opening, or lectures and workshops!!  (Please look for further info here: http://dvcart.blogspot.com)
