This is a follow-up to my initial review of the MobileMount unit I received over six months ago.
Initially I had intended the mount for use in my car and on my glass desk, for my phone and my tablet.
Unfortunately, the mount has failed to meet expectations. As of my last few attempts at using the mounts (freshly cleaned, good surfaces, using the correct installation) the larger mount will hold the grip for up to 30 minutes, the smaller one less than ten (even shorter when using on a tablet). This is without exerting force on the item. When exerting force, the large one maintains the grip for less than one minute. (This involves light play, rotating the axis, tapping vigorously on the tablet/phone surface)
I recently purchased a new mount here in Taiwan for $650NTD ($22 approximate equivalent) which has a much stronger grip, and is even capable of gripping onto partially non-flat surfaces, and can withstand severe external abuse (I was literally slapping the display tablet back and forth to no avail)
So right now, I can definitely say I am disappointed in the product. However it was a good try, and there were good posts keeping people informed on the progress, which is more than what I can say about the other projects I have backed.
Creator brian kohlbeck on March 13
The mobile mount is really a piece of junk. The mount does not stay sanctioned to my iPhone 4 or to my windshield. I feel ripped off for backing this project. The stickers provided dont help either. Is there any way to get my money back? Ugggghhhhh!
Creator Jonathan Perry on February 5
I will add that my mount broke within the week I received it. Its been in its box for a few months and I just realized that this is an exact copy of the suction mount on tom-tom's iphone charger (with different logo) and that the tom-tom has a patent number (which make me wonder how JR Sanchez could also claim a patent). I noticed that the tom-tom version is much much stronger. Really disappointed.

Please refund me my money

Well after trying the mobilrmount out for over two months I can confidently say it is with out the worst piece of junk that I own. Thew only thng you can be sure of is your phone sliding off and being mobile towards the floor, these things do not work as advertised. After a short amount of time, may be minute might get an hour out of them they just let go yet the other suction devices that I have for gps etc have been in placew on the same surface for months without letting go. I have two of these and they both fail and I have been genuine in my efforts to get these to work. I can not endorse these and cant see how the new venture is going to be any better. To then have another project rammed down my throat is very poor taste and shows exactky what we are dealing with here. I am now going to throw these into the bin so that they do not accidently get used by a visitor as I could not take the risk of a broken mobile device.
Creator Michaelb on December 19
I just like to say the kid did something right, he sent me a refund check for my bad mount. Kuddos for you kid. But still, look at your comments before you start on your new project.
The mount doesnt work. It just dosnt stick to anything, you need to redesign it.
Creator Andrew C on December 18

Creator Walmar on December 11
@JR, please stop your projects and your new adventure. The MobileMount doesn't work.
Only works on a table where device can't fall too hard, cause it does after a while.
Not only broken promises, also broken iPhone's.

@Stephanie
That's great to hear that you're loving it! I can't wait to show you what I've been working on! You're gonna love it!
Creator Stephanie Azzaretto on December 5
I absolutely love my mount I received. I use it all of the time and I have never had a single problem with it. It has stayed on my windshield without any issues. I use it driving and at home. It has made my devices handsfree. I have the iphone 5 and I honestly couldn't be happier with this product. Thank you!

@Elaine
Thanks for backing our project! Please make sure you're unlocking the mount, pushing down firmly on the suction cup, and then locking the mount.
Temperature should affect it a little but not much. The temp ranged from 15 degrees to 71 degrees in Chicago this week and several of mine have stayed up since june
Creator Elaine on December 3
Hi JR,
I too supported your project with high hopes but after I received it, none of the phones I tried with the MobileMount stayed on very long. I tried it on the naked iPhone 4 and on a case for HTC Evo and the vinyl backing. Even on glass with the mount itself it fell down after less than 5 minutes. I wonder if the temperature of the environment is a factor? Maybe it's too cold here in Vancouver, Canada for the suction cup to stay on for a long time.
Anyways, hope my feedback helps. Looking forward to your future designs/projects, good luck!
Creator JR Sanchez on November 30
@Everyone
If you haven't received your mount please contact me at mobile mount@me.com . Everything was shipped out in July. Some packages were lost and we have resolved 99% of them. So please contact me ASAP. Thanks.
Creator Graeme Horton on November 28
super disappointed in this product. I had high hopes especially after seeing the shoe hang from the window for so long. I have tried it in the car where the small vibrations of the road cause it to slowly move down the window and for the phone to gradually work its way to falling off the suction cup. I have read this forum for more info on how to use it properly and I have been doing exactly as suggested "unlocking (twist to the left) the mount all the way. Then push down firmly and lock the mount(twist to the right)."
I have tried it on my imac both on the base and on the aluminum front below the display and it will not hold. I have tried it on the kitchen counter, on my desk both at work and at home... all "smooth surfaces" and it doesn't seem to hold even when nothing is attached. I tried attaching my phone first to see if it was a weight balance thing but to no avail. I had wanted to use these as gifts but cannot because they don't even function.
To me it seems like the suction cups are to rigid and so don't properly stay stuck onto the surfaces. Maybe it's that their surfaces are too smooth not sure, but whatever the case they don't stick to anything. But alas these are the risks of kickstarter.
Creator Dossan on November 26
JR where are you??? If you don't or can't send my mobile mount, please give me back my money... Why you ignoring me?
Creator Arpan Rao on November 21, 2012
@JR As you asked sent you my uncle's address via email and two followup emails after that. No reply? Are you going to send me my package or not? at least reply to my emails.
Creator Udi Graff on November 20, 2012
@JR I have sent you private messages for the past 2 months, and you don't even answer. I haven't received my package, and I don't understand what's going on. Please get back to me.
Creator Arpan Rao on November 15, 2012
@JR OK sending you my uncle's address (via email) in US you can send the mounts to him. He is traveling to India for Christmas so I can get it from him. Thx
Creator Giampiero on November 12, 2012
Hello JR gently from the month of July in which thou hast set as the date of delivery of my Mobile Mount still have not received anything, kindly you can provide the unique consignment ID so that I can do a search, thank you.

Hello!
I'm one of the backers for project MobileMount.
I still have not received my mobilemount :(
I'm from Kazakhstan.
The package's ID is LN304593276US
I'm check the link: https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input…
MobileMount was in JAMAICA in July 15, 2012, 10:30 am. After that there's nothing...
Please help me.
Creator JR Sanchez on November 10, 2012
@Arpan
I shipped 2 packages. The first one with the tracking number I sent you, and the second with no tracking number. The shipping program (Endicia) that we used didnt let me print out a label for the second shipment. It said your second address was not valid/unconfirmed. I wrote out your address by hand on your second shipment, therefore no tracking number. I'm sorry.
Also shipments using first class, stop tracking once its processed through the Chicago facility. If it says international letter that means it has gone out of the country.
Below are more examples of shipments that have gone over seas and have been delivered over seas. All show the same status. Yours isn't any different. It will always say processing that means "in transit"
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction…
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction…
As you know shipping to India isn't always so easy.
If you have a friend here in the US that we could ship to, I would be more than happy to ship them the mounts. Then they could forward them to you.
Creator Arpan Rao on November 6, 2012
@JR check before you reply. Here again two false info. 1st you said you sent two different shipments but you are again post the same tracking link of the first shipment. Shipment LN306157897US never reached then only I started contacting you. But never got another shipment info. 2nd you are saying that this shipment went out of US but check the status of this shipment, it only says 'Processed through USPS Sort Facility' but never made to transit. This is not the first time I am getting shipments from US and I know when the shipment make to transit USPS updates.
So please don't say that you sent two shipments first and then the shipments went out of US, because both is not true. Either send me my mounts or refund my money.
Is someone from KickStarter checking these updates? Guys many other project owner are loosing their credibility because of such issue.
Creator JR Sanchez on November 5, 2012
@Arpan
We are not a cheating company, so please do not call us that. You pledged for 2 mounts and we shipped out 2 different shipments with 2 mounts, total of 4 mounts. After the first package was lost we shipped you 2 more mounts. Below is the tracking number. Tracking stops once it leaves the USA. The only way it will track all the way to your country is if we ship using priority, which is very expensive.
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction…
Creator Arpan Rao on November 4, 2012
Here is the correct USPS link https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input…
Creator Arpan Rao on November 4, 2012
So I was correct this company is actually cheating, many of us never received their rewards. My package never went out of US http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSInternetWeb/InterLabelInquiry.do… and when I contacted JR first of all he said send me your address and when I sent him now he says its different so he can not send another reward. This is creating. I want full refund or my mounts for what I paid. This guys got what he wanted out of Kickstarter but now cheating many backers. Shame!
Creator Kevin I on October 26, 2012
Yeah, I've got to agree with a lot of these other posters. These do not work at all. Ah well, chalk it up to a learning experience. I've tried all sorts of surfaces, wet, dry it makes no difference. The best I found was wet and not to tighten the suction cups at all. That will give me about 10 seconds but thats about it. To the garbage these will go.
Creator Duc huynh on October 12, 2012
For those who are having trouble with a loose ball and socket. If you pop off the two rubber pieces off the joint you can tighten the screws and it should make positioning easier again without flopping around. I'm sure you can add a thin layer of nail polish to the ball too to make it stickier. I may have found something like that online before. But that's at your own risk.
Creator Weiran Zhang on October 9, 2012
Hi,
I have still yet to receive any MobileMount nor received replies to the messages I sent you through Kickstarter. I'm certain it was lost in the post now as it was sent in July.

Hi JR
I emailed you several times regarding my mobile mount which I haven't received yet
Could you look into that ?
Rik
Creator dtsm on September 27, 2012
Echo some of the other negative comments.
Either I'm all thumbs or the mount just doesn't work properly. I participated in three projects, all related to the iPhone. The best was the super think iWallet, a distant second was the elevation dock and unfortunately this came in last.
But the developer was a trooper and I wish you only the best.....
Creator JR Sanchez on September 26, 2012
@Brian
I'll look into that. It must have gotten lost in the mail.
Creator Brian Comben on September 26, 2012

New update regarding iPhone 5 + MobileMount
Creator Michaelb on September 26, 2012
CRAP, this kids going to screw another group of supporters with his product that doesn't work. Jr read the comments your mobile mount DOESN'T WORK.
Creator JR Sanchez on September 23, 2012
@Darren
I think you may be using it incorrectly. Try unlocking (twist to the left) the mount all the way. Then push down firmly and lock the mount(twist to the right). That should work. Please follow up with me ill help you out if it doesn't, but it should.
Creator Darren Curl on September 23, 2012
JR,
I like how the mounts turned out. Unfortunately, they simply don't work. I received 5 and have tried 2 of them. The suction cups don't stay attached.
I tried it with my iPhone 4 and now my iPhone 5. I tried with the supplied stickers. I've tried. But either my phone falls off, or the suction cup comes free from a perfectly smooth surface. The mount just just doesn't work.
I don't regret supporting your efforts. I admired your communication and devotion to a quality product. Although your project threw you several curveballs, I sympathized with your challenges and understood the delays. I was really looking forward to enjoying the Mobile Mount. I wish I had better feedback.
Better luck next time.
Cheers
Creator CJ Siano on September 22, 2012
I have a Seido case for my last iPhone and it's not shiny smooth, and the mount won't hold. I've played with a lot of surfaces and basically if it's not smooth enough to reflect an image, it won't stay.
@JR, I know that the disks might do the trick, but that just seems to make the whole thing seem 'cheap'. And there are places I can't just stick a disk. Airline seatback trays for example. In the budget carriers with slick surfaced tables, it works. As soon as it has a surface treatment, I can't get a reliable mount.
One issue I've had with the disks is that they tend to leave a residue when removed. Even so, I've used all the ones I had trying different things.
Creator Craig Glogower on September 22, 2012
I tried on my iPhone5. It sticks for maybe 2-4 minutes. I'm not sure I want to put a vinyl sticker on it. I do like the Mobile Mount. I think it is about a year -18 months behind. If it came out during the 4 and prior to 4s it would be gaining users versus losing them due to new iPhone back. This is not JR's fault as he thought through enough to provide vinyl. It is just now a personal choice about who wants to use vinyl or get a phone case that Mobile Mount sticks to.
Creator JR Sanchez on September 22, 2012
@CJ
Great news!! So I cut the vinyl to fit on just the aluminum part and it works awesome! You can't even notice the vinyl is there. It actually protects the aluminum from getting scratched. It's kind of like the Zagg protectors. I will posting an update about this later this week.
Creator CJ Siano on September 22, 2012
Sadly, the slightly textured back on the new iPhone 5 won't hold.
The mount seems to really only hold on glass and surfaces that are as perfect as glass.
Creator Thierry Zoller on September 21, 2012
Haven't received mine yet either - in case there are issues (address) get in touch - I believe I did.
Creator Craig Glogower on September 21, 2012
Anyone test this with an iPhone 5 yet?
Creator JR Sanchez on September 18, 2012
@Michaelb
Stop being rude and don't write on the message boards anymore if you have nothing good to say.
Creator Michaelb on September 18, 2012
anyone want to buy my mobile mount? I have a black one for sale $5.00 + shipping. It doesnt stick to anything, not even good for a doorstop. It really is a piece of crap. doesnt even look like the original product. Im selling it cheap, it could be a collectors item someday.
Creator JR Sanchez on September 10, 2012
@Jean-Francois
I sent you a message. you haven't paid for shipping yet. Thanks
