Photo-main

We are skateboarding from Boston to New York and making a film - part documentary, part skate video, and part modern urban travelogue.

BACKSTREET ATLAS is part documentary, part skate video, and part modern urban travelogue.

Zach was born in Boston, Adam in New York. They met over a decade ago through a shared love of skateboarding.  A writer/bartender and a filmmaker, they both now live in New York and this summer will skateboard from one city to the other.

So?

We are making a movie of our trip. Using a network of local friends, friends of friends, and strangers, we will skate from town to town and film everything along the way.  We want to rediscover what we feel has been lost in this age; the personal connection with a place, its characteristics, and characters. Everything necessary to make this film will fit into our two backpacks.

Why?

Filming what we stumble upon locally and generally trying to get involved in every freaky thing we can, we hope to reveal that new, unique experiences can be found in the places you think you know the most.  We promise a captivating narrative of our journey and the inspiration to go out and discover new things yourself.

How You Can Help

We are leaving in early August so time is very important.

Our main hurdles are hard drive space for the hours and hours and hours of footage we will accumulate as well as money for purchasing a camera that is small and easy to travel with but high quality.  We need money for this equipment as well as the materials to keep them safe on the road.  We also need money for vittles, spirits, and miscellaneous equipment (tents, first-aid, flashlights, bug spray, socks, underwear) for the trip.  The money will also go to support our lives over the 3 (give or take a few days) weeks that this trip will take as well as time spent away from our professional lives during the editing process.

Make life interesting for yourself.  Promote people who make life interesting.  We are some of those people.  Thank you all kindly!
