Blackness. The man, who will not know he is Kade Christopher Truth for some time, raises himself on one elbow. He is on the street, what started the day as a street. There were others. Others moving slowly around him. He wonders if he has been drugged. “Hey,” he cries, “Where am I?” He looks down and what he sees cannot be fact. Protruding from his shoulder is a shard of metal, approximately a foot and a half long. Horrified, he realizes it has come far less than that from permanently separating his neck from his torso. Shaking, he pulls at the metal on his way to standing, and it reluctantly leaves. This seems to take weeks. Again, he tries: “Where am I?” Then: “What’s happening?” He is yelling to be heard over the collage of sirens and screams. The strain of talking so loudly is too much for his taxed body, and he finds himself, again, on the freezing concrete. Is it freezing, or is he in shock? It no longer matters. Kade is back in the blissful, midnight darkness. Perhaps he will rest there for a bit.

The Truth Saga is my baby. I have nurtured the ideas behind it for a decade and it's so awesome and rewarding to see it spread it's wings with Forging Truth. (No pun intended, to be sure.) Later this month, I will be doing a blog tour with 20+ stops on to promote the series. I'll also be doing a few giveaways along the way.
With your help, I'd like to put Corrupting Truth, the second volume in The Truth Saga, on the map, as well. Here's a little more about what I'm hoping to accomplish.
Primary Project Goal: My goal is to grow momentum and a larger following for my current novel, Forging Truth, as well as for The Truth Saga as a whole. I will be able to spread the word, gauge the interest in and reception of my characters, and get real-time feedback from the Kickstarter community.
Secondary Project Goal: It is also my goal to utilize funds gained through my Kickstarter campaign to pay for any expenses related to the set up and promotion of The Truth Saga. Some of the potential expenses include book cover design, supplemental material layout and design, advertisement and promotions, fees, leasing space at conventions, travel to conventions, purchasing both author and review copies, and maybe I'll grab some Taco Bell with what's left over.

Kade Truth awakens in a strange house sideways of reality, where he learns he has “died” in a mysterious attack on the Statue of Liberty. Rather than facing the afterlife, he now wields energy powers, including flight. Kade joins and befriends Caduceus – eccentric caretaker, magician, and feeder of soup – and Mao F’Yang – an intoxicating girl with the uncanny ability to disappear – in a quest to regain his memories, uncover who is behind the attack, and discover why he has been so drastically altered.
In a counter to Kade’s mission, the malign Dark Monk joins forces with Richard Van Parson – arrogant CEO of VPI – to forward his own hellish agenda under the ruse of a retaliatory war.
The question remains, though, if the French government orchestrated the Liberty Island attack, why are our heroes certain of Van Parson’s involvement? What ties does the Dark Monk have with Caduceus? What designs does he have for Kade? And will Kade unravel the truth in time to embrace his true destiny?

As one of my all-time favorite comedians, Mitch Hedberg, once said, "Every book is a children's book...if they can read." With that said, though, I had toyed around with making this a YA series, but I ultimately decided to leave it as is. There are a few sprinklings of profanity, but nothing too serious. You won't find GD or have F-bombs going off left and right. There is a sex-scene that's not super-heated, but it is there. I'd give it possibly a PG-13 rating.

On science: Hardly any at all. I am not a scientist, nor did I excel in any science class in either high school or college. What I have always excelled in is the enjoyment of Sci-Fi book, movies, and comics. While I enjoy the kind of hard-science stories like Crichton and such, I can also sink my teeth into an equally soft approach. The same goes for magic. While I enjoy reading tales where the rules of magic are strictly laid out and adhered to, I also like the "easier" magic. In The Truth Saga, I'm sure the characters know the rules involved, but they won't be beating you over the head with them.

At least three. I'll definitely be tying up the first story arc by the end of the third volume. That way, if I want, I can flesh out other ideas I have along the way. Plus, the reader won't track me down and beat me to a pulp if I leave book five with a cliffhanger for a decade or two. I can finish the story, I set out to tell, before deciding on the next arc for the characters.

Um, that's not a question. But, you're right. I made 120 attempts before deciding that was probably my best one. I plan on doing an update a day if possible, so hopefully, that'll speak louder than the video.
