I am creating a line of 4 Gnerdy Lawn Gnomes, and setting up the studio to create & produce them, to be sold online and at craft shows.
My husband and I love lawn gnomes. They're so cute! But we're also huge geeks, so we got the idea to combine the two. I am doing this Kickstarter project in order to create a line of 4 original Gnerdy Lawn Gnomes and to build my studio for the production of that sculpture line.
I wish to create a line of nerdy and geeky lawn gnomes to be sold under the business name Gnome Gnerds. The goal of this business will be to sell ceramic lawn gnomes, sculpted, cast and painted by me, that have a nerdy, geeky or edgy design. A cute little gnome with an axe and a severed elf head; a pirate or ninja gnome; a zombie gnome and a zombie hunting gnome; a fierce fighter to guard your lawn; or a gnome in the cult of Cthulhu. These are a few examples of the great ideas that I have for sculpts.
I plan to sell my gnomes online and at arts/craft shows and conventions.
The funds that I receive from Kickstarter will be used to create an initial line of 4 gnomes and to set up the studio. The money will be used for the following:
Purchasing a kiln, which will be the largest single cost; rewiring my basement studio for the correct electric setup, and installation of the kiln; purchase of materials for production, such as clay, sculpting tools, paints and glazes, brushes, and plaster for making molds; work space and shelving for the studio; shipping and packaging supplies for future sales of gnomes; building a website for the sale of the gnomes; advertising for the business; business license fees.
After the studio is set up, I will begin sculpting four original lawn gnomes, create molds of them for mass production, and open the business with this line of four original sculpts. In the future, I plan to create more gnomes, but this Kickstarter project will aid in the establishment of the basic line of four designs.
I have sculpted on gnome so far as a test piece. This gnome stand proudly holding his large axe in front and a severed elf head behind his back. He's such a jolly little guy!
