Thank you, all, for your support and for helping to spread the word. I'm disappointed that the project has not been funded, but I'm looking at other ways to pay for it, and I'll let you know if/when the book is available.
Where the money goes
I was recently asked why I'm trying to pre-fund the publication of this book, rather than just getting it out there and then trying to sell it. First, since I wrote it, I'll need to hire someone else to edit it (you writers understand this, but for you non-writers, just know that editing your own work is very difficult, because you almost always miss things that someone who hasn't written the book would catch). Second, I need to hire a cover artist/designer, to make this book look like it's related to The Presidential Book of Lists (since it is, in effect, the second half of that book). Third, I'm hoping to use some of the money to fund the publicity campaign necessary to get the book onto the shelves at the presidential museum and library gift shops.
