As I mentioned in my last update, I have good news! I am up for a $2000 grant from GOOD Magazine to complete the final editing, illustration and printing of my book, “The B-girl Guide: Rethinking the Way We Live.”
I need your amazing support to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Update #5: B-girl Guide Web Site is Up!
I wanted to let my Kickstarter backers know that the B-girl Guide web site is up! The component of everyone's "reward" -- the thank you's, are up on the site. I hope you can spend some time perusing it. It's a beta version and will evolve over time. Your feedback, comments, and suggestions are welcome.

Update #3: Update on The B-girl Guide
Hi!
I hope you are enjoying your summer and keeping cool! I've been busy writing "The B-girl Guide" and it has been going well since I last wrote upon reaching my Kickstarter goal.
I am just about ready to engage an editor and designer. Your support - both moral and financial - got me here, closer to my goal of self-publishing - so THANK YOU!
As the summer winds down, I'll be working on some additional blogging/social media/pr projects (can you say 'multitask'?) to pave the way for the final phase/completion of the book (as well as living expenses). I'll update you on that shortly.
For those of you scheduled to receive a reward, I'll be sending those at the same time as the book! (Looking at the period between Fall 2010 - Early 2011 for publication.)
I'm excited about this next stage. Thank you once again for being a backer and a part of making my project a success!

I grew up in New Jersey and, as a huge Bruce Springsteen fan, I wrote a fanzine about him while in college called "The Aurora." This led me to the music business where I became a publicist for amazing artists like Patti Smith, Sarah McLachlan, Aretha Franklin, AC/DC, Enuff Znuff, and more.
My aromatherapy company, also named B-girl, was featured in many glossy magazines, including ELLE, IN Style, British ELLE and Latina.
For ten years, I've done grassroots activism in NYC on issues related to the environmental, anti-war, animals and wildlife.
I write a blog about Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village/public space in NYC as well as my own personal blog, Cathryn's World, chronicling the writing of my book and Kickstarter experience.
My goal is that my book will make a difference in an entirely new way.
I live in Brooklyn, NY.
