March 27th Update…

Our pledge goal ( $12,480.00 ) was hit in only four days! Thank you to all our backers for your generous support.

We still have until 8 pm on April 14, 2011 to continue to raise money. Because we are used to working with very little money, our initial budget goal was set at a low figure (for a project of this scale.) Any money pledged now will go into making the production even better and to help cover post-production costs.

Talking Light Tour – in eye-poppin’ 3D

Featuring Randy's Ghost Stories

The Project:

To continue their long tradition of bleeding edge, hi-tech art & music, The Residents will film – in 3D! – the final two performances of their Talking Light  tour. The dates: April 15 & 16, 2011; the location: Bimbo’s 365 Club in San Francisco, 8 pm.

The Cryptic Corporation once again calls upon legendary producer, Starr Sutherland, to assemble a crack team of stereographers and highly skilled stage & lighting designers to tangle with this challenging production – all at the cost of: expenses-only! Four Hi-Def 3D cameras will capture footage for this soon-to-be timeless classic… The Residents: Talking Light 3D.  

Money is needed for: 3D camera rentals, some production costs, a buttload of hard drives, plus post production software. Covering these expenses will kickstart the project, and kick our butts!

Talking Light:

The inspiration behind the Talking Light tour is The Residents’ fascination with spooky stories. The Residents realized that what they saw as “Ghost Stories” had become a show about aging & death. They wanted to have fun with the concept and, in true Residents’ fashion, their idea of fun is darker & scarier than the mainstream defines it. The show begins with the title piece, “Talking Light,” which follows the tale of a “lonely teenager” who comes upon a mysterious skeleton baby in a remote desert cottage, and concludes with “Unseen Sister,” revolving around a woman and her invisible twin sister - and the weirdly conflicting emotions surrounding the death of her mother when the woman was just a child.

Each show also includes a third piece - which might be “Perchance to Dream,” “The Sleepwalker,” “Ghost Snake,” “Florence,” “Milton” or “Pudding in Disguise,” - all equally engrossing. All of these ghost stories share a common theme, centered around TV culture & commercials, which ultimately asks the question:  In a world where nearly everything has been categorized, how do we fulfill our need for the Fuzzy, the Vague, or the Supernatural… with TV commercials? The Residents have more creative answers for you.
