Hello and thanks for taking the time to check out my Kickstarter!
My name is Jacob Raeder, and I am an artist and designer graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in early July. I first came to The Netherlands last year with a Fulbright Fellowship to study how Dutch Designers in the 1990's and early 2000's used industrial processes and systems to further an essentially 'craft-based' studio practice. During that year, I fell in love with the city and the new ways of working that I encountered, and I was fortunate enough to be invited to stay another year as part of the graduating class in the Ceramics Department.
My end exam exhibition will have both sculptural and video components, but what I need your help funding is a 12 page full-color publication printed on 'tabloid-stock' and six poster-sized prints mounted in light boxes. The publication and light boxes are part of a collaborative project undertaken with Nora Halpern and Rémy Valton, two extremely talented students in the graphic design department. Neither portfolio nor documentation, this 2d work has become a developed and critical component of my artistic practice. My experience at the Rietveld has been incredible, and the publication showcases the tremendous growth that I have undergone during my two years here.
Below are a few samples of pages that will be in the publication as well as some of the rewards that are on offer.
I will be headed back to the States in August, where I hope to further exhibit this work. So get in early and help fund my publication while getting the most ceramic for your buck!
