Cakes by Babbs is a new local maine cake shoppe looking for help to meet our goals so that we can bring the sweets to YOU!!!
Owning a cake business hasn't always been my life's dream, but making delicious things for those close to me is one of my favorite things to do.
One thing that I have always believed is that everyone deserves a special cake for his or her birthday. Each year, in my own family, my brother and I got to pick out our own special design for our birthday cakes and my grandfather would somehow recreate exactly what we wanted. I remember one year, my brother wanted a bright, red racecar and that's exactly what he got. It was beautiful!
I realized my love for baking and creating cakes late in my teens. I had always been busy with baking in my free time and when my grandfather was no longer able to decorate his cakes, I took over the tradition of baking the birthday cakes for my family.
To pursue a career in baking, I decided to attend the New England Culinary Institute and recieved an Associate's degree in Baking and Pastry and a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management. Since then, I have been working in different establishments and acquiring new skills; I currently work for Fore Street Restaurant in Portland, Maine.
I started Cakes by Babbs to focus my career on my love for baking. Owning my own shop has been something I have wanted for a long time.
My husband and I have started slow by working out of our home. The money raised here on Kickstarter will help us do things like obtain necessary licenses, get our name out at local bridal shows, and having a booth at the Bath Heritage Days Festival.
Our goal by the summer of 2013 is to have a cupcake cart once a week in either the Bath or greater Portland area.
