I’ve always been what you’d call a ‘bad sleeper,’ even as a kid. What usually keeps me awake is worry. I’m writing this at 4:36am, and I have to be at the airport in four hours, but tonight I’m unable to sleep because of excitement.
I’m in the guest room of my good friends Duquette and Morgan Jones Johnston. Over the past four days, an ad hoc assemblage of amazing musicians from Birmingham (and one from Nashville), assembled together as a band for only the second time in history, learned and recorded eleven songs. The result is an album I am extremely proud of.
My good friend, the very talented Stephen Goose Trageser, has been given the task of mixing this album, which he will begin doing the first week of May. From there, it gets mastered and then goes off to the plant.
I promised myself I’d stay mum on details, but let’s just say I can’t wait for yall to hear this album. Hell, even I’d buy this one. It’s a monster.
