A destination sound art space in Central Washington for Trimpin's sculptural contraptions.
Trimpin and the some of the other Mighty Tietonians are transforming an apple storage warehouse chamber into a destination sound art space for the work of an internationally important artist, and we’d like you to participate to make this a reality.
Trimpin, the internationally respected sound artist, engineer, composer, and performer is redesigning a large room in a former cold storage fruit locker in the Mighty Tieton Warehouse in Tieton, Washington. In it, he composes, tweaks his delightful and mesmerizing purely acoustic music-making contraptions, and gives occasional performances. The space is acoustically suited for his work. This fall, we are transforming this large space into a finished, functional, and accessible composing and performance studio, workshop, and classroom.
"What's in it for me?" Terrific gifts aside, you will be able to reserve time in the Mighty Tieton Sound Space for self-directed concerts and performances of Phffft, Conloninpurple, Liquid Percussion, Kraut Control, (CanonX+4:33=100), or other amazing musical contraptions that can be activated and controlled with a simple iPhone app. The space will also be made suitable and comfortable for informal chamber concerts by Trimpin and other sound artists, collaborators, and musicians.
Your pledge will go to adding additional electrical controls, Wi-Fi routers, sequencers, comfortable seating, programmable lighting, a workbench, and installation of suspension hardware for his works.
What if we exceed our goal?
We will be able to add heating to this heavily insulated room, additional performance programming, and classes for music students in the region. And if we raise much more, you can help Trimpin construct his percussive instrument Klang Hauffen, made from vintage components from Conlon Nancarrow’s 1950’s Percussion Orchestra.
