"The Luckiest Man Alive" is my directorial debut. It's complete and ready to fly - into the film festival circuit and a local premier.
Over the course of the last year, I have slowly put together this 14 minute short film, "The Luckiest Man Alive", with the kindness and good will of many people who donated time, equipment, expertise and passion to see this movie made. The good news is that it is now complete and I have begun submitting to film festivals around the globe, including Sundance, SXSW, Berlin Film Festival, to name a few.
I am focusing on three categories of film festivals: festivals where my first feature played, festivals where I have some connection through a friend, and Academy Award qualifying festivals.
An Academy qualifying festival is simply one that if I were to win an award at one of these festivals, I would automatically qualify for the Academy Award in the Short Subject category. These are the most difficult to get into, but have high rewards.
Basically, the more festivals we get into, the more our movie will be seen and the more chances we'll have of pulling in awards.
I want to submit to about 50 film festivals, print a few posters, make a few DVDs and even do an LA premier. The average festival costs about $45 to submit. With your help, I'll be able to do all this. Then, it will be up to the judges to decide what awards we take home.
