You say to follow your Kickstarter blog - isn't that what this is. I mean, this is the comments thread, but I also review the Updates as well. Is there somewhere else I should be looking? I've check the peoplpeople.se site and the transparentspeaker.com looking for news, but hadn't seen anything new in weeks. Maybe I'm missing something...
In any case, beautiful product, and I'm excited to see it all come together.

We've just been with our Manufacturer and inspected one of our final production prototypes, we'll be shortly posting about our new estimates. Make sure to follow our Kickstarter blog, where we post all news regarding the development. This does mean that the Transparent Speaker is a bit of it's original ETA, but we're most certain that this delay will be worth it. Thanks for being patient!

Hi Paul, and sorry for missing out on your comment!
The Toaster-slot is developed to give the Airport Express a snug fit, keeping it hidden inside the Speaker and avoiding acoustic vibrations.
To make for both a smoother, and less cluttered connection, we've developed an alternative AC-cord designed for the Toaster-slot's dimensions which makes use of the power sent to the speaker, which is included.
We're currently tweaking the details of the speaker, and giving it optimal space all around. Currently the Airport Express has around 20mm headroom for it's ports. It's not optimal for big cables, but if you make use of for example a Flat Ethernet-cable, it should do the trick!

Hi,
You have been very good about answering other people's questions, but so far there is no response to my questions about the Airport Express slot.
It is still not clear how the "toaster slot" works. From the image you provide, I don't see how an Airport Express could receive power from the speaker, as the power port on the Airport is on a sliding side that wouldn't be able to plug into the toaster slot. Also, would the Airport Express slide all the way in, or would it be sticking out a bit in the back? Would any of the ports on the Airport be usable?
I love the concept, but I'm not going commit hundreds of dollars until I understand how everything plugs in.

I was wondering if the control box will say; "PEOPLE PEOPLE" or "TRANSPARENT SPEAKER." I've seen renderings with both. "TRANSPARENT SPEAKER" seems a little obvious, but not a deal breaker. Just curious what your thought process was?

I notice that i can use USB powered Bluetooth dongle to make Transparent Speaker as wireless speaker for iphone. But as far as i know, USB Bluetooth dongle have to be installed before it can be used.
Is it true? If it is, how to do that?

Or will you included that dongle for someone who pledge more than US$360 as a reward? :)

1. How safe you is your packaging sent to overseas? What courier did you will use?
2. What if the tempered glass is crack or broken during shipping or factory defect?
3. Will you mark the item as "a gift" since it is Kickstarter project that we pledge a fund to you and you give us "a gift" as a return? And lowered the value. It is very crucial because tax is very high.

Is there any chance that you could distribute the glass blueprints so that I could try to find a local glass shop capable of cutting the pieces and also get quotes for it? That will help me decide whether I should buy the DIY or full kit. I live in a small town and its going to be hard to find a glass cutter capable of doing this kind of precision work in the area.

When you finish with your product, mail me. I am electronic engineer and I could start new project with you. If you or someone else is interested, my idea is also about the speakers, but something deferent.
p.s hole on box allows back pressure to be released from behind the speaker to allow it to move. On this way you can extend the bass. Or you can make extra chambers to get sub woofer (low frequencies). Also box need to have a dumber. Other vise box walls vibrate to much.
About active, passive filters, amplifier I can not talk as I do not see what is inside. For sure, you could use more impressive cables. High frequency audio speaker need to have passive filter. 20Khz always has undesirable resonates.

We'd love to see your ideas about customizing and making own versions of the Transparent Speaker.
We will be shipping you the blueprints to get your glass cut. But you can use these specifications for your own choice of materials. Bare in mind that different materials have different sound properties. With our example of using glass. We found that 0,6mm was the optimal balance between thickness and acoustic properties for the glass.
The Speaker will be shipped with the the correct power cord to the region you are ordering from, if you're ordering from a certain region but going to be using it in another, just give us a shout!
Regarding your question about voltage, we can say that the Transparent Speaker will be using a Switched-mode power supply, which will automatically adjust to your power-grid. We're also currently working with our manufacturer, to give the speaker a coated cable!

Anyway, I like it PEOPLE PEOPLE, I like the fact you are selling as a kit, can see some funky custom boxes showing up.
Few questions, this will work with the different voltages in different countries?
will the power cord be specific to the countries or will we need to buy an adaptor on our end?
Do you have to use glass or can you use acrylic?
Also any chance of of having the wires fabric coated?

It’s true, we haven't reinvented the wheel, there are a quite a few clear enclosures that exist in the automotive audio industry. What we wanted to do is to create a new choice for the modern music-lover who uses devices like their smartphone or tablet to enjoy music.
We saw that the majority of home speaker systems today, didn’t have the looks or sustainability that we wanted. Using acrylic glass was actually used in our earlier prototypes, but in our testing we found that glass was more airtight and sustainable. Choosing high quality components with sustainability in mind and made in fair working conditions has been important for us. Our prices are set keeping these things in mind, but we will keep pushing for giving good deals to our buyers!

one of the stupidest rip offs i've ever seen.. i can build a nicer speaker enclosure using a transparent/clear speaker enclosure with more powerful speakers (and subwoofers) for much cheaper than the kickstarter discount price and build 3 of them for the price of the full price along with a built in music port.
The car aftermarket industry has been offering offering clear enclosures for over a decade now.. just because it's made for a car, doesn't mean it can't be used indoors, and some of those clear boxes they offer look much nicer than this, such as molded clear acrylic where the whole box is just 1 giant piece of thick (1/2 to 1 inch) acyclic with 2 end pieces unlike this cheap box here which is 6 pieces of flat not even a quarter inch piece of acrylic.
And with nicer small speakers with broader frequency range and dynamics such as by infinity, will sound much nicer, and with a "real sub" will be able to give you the deepest lows you want capable of shaking your house as much as you want or as little as the thicker acrylic for the car are designed to withstand violent subwoofer shaking unlike this box with looks as if the clear pieces would crack or burst at the seams with the slightest of true bass.
