We're all Fool's for something. Zeitgeist is a Fool for festivals having vision to create the most original music & art fest in the US.

(When making a pledge to FoolsFest you are only charged if the funding goal is met by August 19th. Therefore all pledge reward payments will only be collected if the goal is reached by August 19th.)

Music is the soundtrack to our lives. It enriches, empowers and enlivens us. It exposes us to different cultures and points of view. It keeps us company when we’re alone, soothes us when we’re stressed and lifts us up when we’re down. Music is our loyal friend and trusty sidekick. Music is a fool for us.

FoolsFest. The Vision.

FoolsFest is the peoples’ festival. It is a festival for the individual. One built upon the essence of creating a judge free community; a community that represents the people in attendance looking to be amazed by a unique environment while expanding their musical horizons.

FoolsFest. The Festival.

FoolsFest is an annual multiple day music and arts festival taking place in Texas around April 1st. It is situated in the heart of Texas ranch land within a convenient driving distance from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas-Fort Worth.

The festival is built around music, with 6+ stages to exhilarate your musical senses. You will find 2 amphitheater size stages, 2 slightly smaller stages situated within tents (similar to circus tents), and 2 more stages the size of which you would find in a large club or bar. Around 100 performers will entertain you on these stages ranging from major headliners that everyone will know to bands that you have heard of to newer artists looking to find their place.

With Music and Art being the main component of FoolsFest; you will become a fool for entertainment overload. With new forms of additional entertainment being built upon year to year; year one has on the docket a sculpture garden, carnival, arcade and movie theater along with active entertainment. You may run into stilt walkers, poi-dancers, jugglers or even mimes.

If that isn’t enough there will be unique food to eat, along with clothing and art vendors to expand your horizons in hopes you will stumble upon something fresh and exciting.

FoolsFest is designed for you to develop your own individual experience. That goes along with the housing options. You can choose to camp in a tent, stay in a tipi, hut, yurt or even bring your RV. Within the housing hub you will find food vendors, a grocery store and general store.

For those of you who live the life of a VIP you will find hot showers and electricity within the housing hub along with free food and many more unique VIP options throughout the festival giving you further options to sculpt your experience.

FoolsFest. The Visionary. Introducing Mark Levine.

FoolsFest has been my vision in the making for nearly 20 years. I attended my first European festival in my college years. I went to the Reading festival in the UK where I had a surreal experience. I was able to see the Foo Fighters in their first festival outing, I met people from all over Europe and built relationships with people who were so open and accepting. I tasted new food, heard new music and was able to feel a sense of community that was unreal. I was hooked on the music festival experience.

I would spend the next decade traveling to festivals in the US and Europe to experience the sense of community year after year and see what made each festival unique and exhilarating. I soon came to find that the US festivals were lacking in their sense of community and offerings compared to that of European festivals. I knew that I needed to bring the European music festival experience to the US. I wanted others to more easily experience what I had been able to for the past 10 years. Thus began the development of FoolsFest.

While traveling to festivals and working on my blueprint for FoolsFest I had the opportunity to see the inner workings of the entertainment industry. I had the chance to work behind the scenes with million dollar musicals and plays, A-list comedians, platinum and Grammy winning artists as well as with new talent and bands that are just beginning to pave their path and find their place.

FoolsFest has been a long and exciting journey in the making.

Three years ago we finalized the development of the FoolsFest blueprint. We established the budgets, revenue streams, and began analyzing the profit margins. As we approached investors we soon came to realize that FoolsFest was more of a passion project. Not the typical project that corporate investment groups were used to seeing and funding.  

We re-evaluated our strategy and knew that it would take a certain type of investor who was passionate about our project. As we searched high and low we soon came to another realization. The return on investment at FoolsFest is more emotional than financial. Therefore, why ask for financing from people that aren't going to get the most out of the festival. We realized we needed to go to the people who will be experiencing FoolsFest. 

That is why we are here. We are asking you, the people, to join our FoolsFest Community. To help us create this passion project. To help us create a unique and phenomenal experience for you. We ask you to help us pave the path to FoolsFest.

FAQ

  • When will I get charged? and are there any additional fees?

    You won't be charged until the campaign has completed (August 20, 2012). What you pledged is what you pay; there are no additional fees or taxes assessed to you.

  • What Bands will be playing at FoolsFest?

    Great question, I'm glad you asked. Unfortunately, I can't tell you. We're still only in the fundraising phase of FoolsFest. Once the festival is funded and launched we will announce artists.

  • What type of music will be played at FoolsFest?

    Without listing specific bands, it is difficult to answer this question. Keep in mind that with FoolsFest taking place in Texas on over 100+ acres of land we will have a very large crowd and therefore a very diverse line-up. FoolsFest is similar in scale to major music festivals in Europe and the largest music festivals here in the US; we are likely to have a similar musical feel with lots of additional entertainment outside of the bands booked.

  • How can my band play at FoolsFest?

    There will be opportunities for local and regional bands to play early in the day at FoolsFest. Once we are funded we will be working feverishly to book our headlining artists. At that point we will be accepting submissions of local and regional groups. There will be a submission form on the FoolsFest website where you can show off your skills. Keep an eye on the Kickstarter campaign to find out what happens next.
