The Best Dutch Book Designs 2012

Cara Phillips – Singular Beauty Hans Gremmen for publishers Fw: Books

Each year Dutch publishers, designers and printers submit over 300 books to be judged. The jury consists mostly of a publisher, two designers and a printer or binder, the fifth jury member being alternately a bookseller, a book historian, a museum curator or a writer on the subject.

Out of 305 submissions this year 33 books have been chosen for Best Dutch Book Designs 2012.

This selection is at the same time the Dutch submission to Best Book Design from all over the World in Leipzig, Germany, the international beauty contest for the book. Later in the year the Best Dutch Book Designs 2012 will be on show at various venues in the Netherlands and abroad, the exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam to begin with. The Best Dutch Book Designs 2012 are made possible due to generous support from paper merchants Antalis (Almere), collective copyright office BNO/Pictoright (Amsterdam) and L. van Heek Textiles (Losser), manufacturer of book binding materials.

Books Shipping!!

Singular Beauty has started shipping, I will be mailing books and rewards over the next few weeks. Thank you all for your patience during this process. 

I am also thrilled to share that Singular Beauty is nominated for Paris Photo–Aperture Foundation PhotoBook First Book Award.

There will be an award event at Paris Photo and the winner will be announced live at the fair.

Pick-up your copy this weekend at the New York Art Book Fair!

The books arrived today from Amsterdam! It was not easy to get them from the truck to my apartment (especially when the elevator decided to stop working today) but I will be finally shipping them out soon.

For those of you in the New York area, you can pick up your books and tote bags this weekend at the NYABF at PS1. Hans will have the funder list at the Fw: booth.

I will also be doing a signing on Sunday at 11am.
