Gripzila (patent pending) is a super-simple-to-use, versatile, universal stand designed to work with smart phones, iPod Touches and much more. It's intended to help enhance the use of these incredible devices and their amazing apps. In addition, its spring-loaded action makes it fun to use while inspiring unlimited possibilities like:
- hands-free video calls
- taking time-delayed photos so you can be in them
- getting online help as you complete a home improvement or repair project
- cooking -- view how-to videos, online recipes and/or actual recipe cards
- viewing what's happening while at work - stock market, incoming calls, etc.
- perfecting your golf swing - videotape your swing to see what needs fixin'
- hanging up the laundry - ha ha
- plugging your nose when changing a dirty diaper :)
- ... along with a bevy of other useful or not so useful solutions
In addition, this compact, versatile gadget will not become obsolete when adding a case or upgrading to the latest device.
It's Versatile
Gripzila can grip and display anything from a recipe card to a smart phone with or without a bumper or bulky case. Its adjustable jaws easily slide open up to 0.8 inches wide and then clamp down on a number of different devices and objects to position them at a variety of angles and orientations.
It's Portable
Gripzila is smaller than a key, making it simple to slip into a pocket and its optional strap and lobster clamp allow it to be attached to a key chain, zipper or whatever suits your fancy.
We Need Your Help
Up to this point we've been using 3D printed prototypes and we've started building a mold and other tooling to produce the Gripzila but we need your help to complete them and gear up for our first production run. If you're interested in this project or would like to give it as a gift, please back us and/or share it with family, friends and acquaintances.

Also, we’d like to try something new that we think will be a lot of fun. There are lots of variables which help determine how well the Gripzila will work with your device such as thickness, size and weight, and curved edges. I've listed the things to look out for as you determine if the Gripzila is right for you.
1) The thickness of your device must be less than 0.8 inches since that's the maximum distance the jaws extend.
2) We do not recommend using the Gripzila on heavier, larger devices such as the iPad. The Gripzila was specifically designed for smaller, lighter devices like the smartphone and iPod Touch. Having said that, they will work for tablets but only when used in the right orientation (on the back and not the sides) as shown in the video.
3) If an edge of your device is rounded and is used as the base when standing your device on a flat surface, it will rock and be unstable. -
The pad material hasn't been finalized yet. Right now a "black only" material best fits our requirements for how well it grips and how resilient it is. If we find a suitable colored material you will be able to choose from predetermined pad colors prior to shipment of your product.

We are testing the popularity of 6 different colors with our colored Early Bird Special limited pledge. Based on those results and working with the molder we will determine which production colors we will offer. Once we determine those colors we will notify you so you can choose accordingly.

Some how the wording got messed up prior to launch and unfortunately once launched and pledged against it can't be changed. This is what it should read:

You will receive one of only 20 first article units of the color of your choice as soon as the mold is complete, prior to our first production run. For shipping to Canada, add $5. For International shipping, add $12." -
Yes you can. Just select the $20 colored early bird pledge and add $12 for the first additional Gripzila and $10 for each one after that. For example a colored early bird special with 3 additional Gripzilas would be $52 ($20 + $12 + $10 + $10). If you live outside the United States you would need to also add in double the required shipping cost since there would be two separate shipments.
