THE SHOW
Missed Connections is a full length circus show of original material, which will be performed in New Haven, Connecticut in early June, 2012. With stories drawn from the darkest corners of craigslist.org to the chaos of Bradley International Airport, Missed Connections explores human relationships gone awry through aerial dance, juggling, trapeze, hoop diving, hand balancing and more.
The circus scene in Connecticut has been taking off over the past few years; it seems like there are great variety shows and performances happening nearly every month. However, despite the plethora of creative and talented people in the area, there has yet to be a full length ensemble show produced by local performers.
Missed Connections will be that show.
In addition to the cohesive plot and ensemble acts, Missed Connections seeks to push the skill level of circus performance in New Haven to a new height. The show features a cast of five of the most talented and diverse performers in Connecticut. Missed Connections has been put together to allow each of the performers to showcase more than just a single facet of their skill repertoire.
THE FUNDS
This show is one hundred percent a labor of love, and all the money raised from this Kickstarter will go towards show expenses such as renting the theater space, fabric for costumes and the materials for our custom made, hand built hoop diving hoops. Our $1200 goal is the bare minimum monetary requirement to make this show happen.
However, if we can raise more we can cover things like printing programs, posters, postcards, and other advertising materials; we'll be able to pay a sound technician, and get someone to run the house. Any money left over after that will put towards future shows!
THE TEAM
Missed Connections is a project spearheaded by the circus duo Soviet Bloc Party from Torrington, Connecticut. The cast is made up of: Allison (trapeze, stilts), Ethan (hand balancing, acrobatics), Nick (juggling, partner acrobatics), Stacey (aerial silks, partner acrobatics, juggling), Xaq (juggling, juggling, and more juggling).
