'Movement to Music' is a class/technique that uses music to find the truth in relationships on the stage and screen.

We are making a documentary about 'Movement to Music', a technique that has affected the lives and careers of many people.   It will take months to make and there will be over fifty people donating their time and artistic energies to make this film happen.

We started this campaign to raise money, but we realized that this is also a wonderful way to spread the word and add to our team.  We would love for you to be involved with this project.  The bigger the community of support, the further the magic of Movement to Music can travel.

A note from the director...

Great performances on the stage and screen can be accredited to truthful and personal impulses. 'Movement to Music' is a technique that starts at the very core of those impulses - simply asking the question, “What makes us move?”

We start with one person standing in an empty room, listening. Then sound is introduced. The music is typically jazz due to its spontaneity, but other music has been interesting as well. Then the person (or “mover”) lets the sound into his or her body.  They allow the sound to “move” them.  And it builds from there. The music is the first partner.  Then other partners are introduced, another person, two people, a live musician, etc. Meanwhile, the coach or teacher is leading the mover or movers through the experience.

'Movement to Music' is beautiful to watch and even more beautiful to experience. It is an original and necessary way of discovering truthful and dynamic performances. By making this film, we will be able to share this technique with performers and artists throughout the world. My hope is not only that an acting or movement professor will be able to watch this film and then teach their own variation of the course, but also that families and friends will try it in their living rooms.
