Update #7: Bio-Fiction Film Festival

Posted on April 25, 2011

Hello Everyone!

It has been a while. We've been busy working, transcribing 45 hours of interviews, getting the footage ready to edit and finalizing the script. It has been a lot of slow work and the incremental progress didn't provide much in the way of exciting updates, but now we are almost done (only a week or two away!) and then things will start to pick up and get more creative and fun. We will start posting more updates and rewards will start to roll out.

We have started working with our composers, Mark Phillips and Seth Norman, to rough out the soundtrack and audio design. Seth just got back to Portland from touring New Zealand with his drum and bass collective and Mark has just finished up a piece for RadioLab on one of the world's best ultra-runners. We are really excited to see what their collaboration sounds like and we'll post samples from their work once it starts to come together.

In May, the "Transgenic Spidergoats" short will play at the Bio:Fiction Film Festival in Vienna at the Vienna Museum of Natural History. The festival is specifically about Synthetic Biology. You can watch all the films online at: http://bio-fiction.com/videos/.  The focus is broad, ranging from documentaries on Theo Jansen's Strandbeests, to animated shorts about wild biotech futures. There's a lot of really interesting work to watch. Enjoy! And rate the ones you watch (including, of course, the Transgenic Spidergoats short) because the opinion of the internet determines which one wins the Audience Award!

More updates coming soon. Thanks again to everyone.
