Update #8: We're Back!!!
Update #7: Thank you from the bottom of our bottomless heart...
This was such an exciting day! We hit our goal! We surpassed it! With a couple of hours to spare!
It was so dramatic! Andrea our violin/fiddle player is now contemplating a job at PBS after experiencing the wild adventure of a fundraising countdown. Lisa & I have been shedding tears of joy and gratitude watching people come through in such amazing fashion. The band and cast were glued to our computers watching the love flow in. Chris was building a house. There were many "ooohs" and "ahhhs" and "ayyyyyes" and CHEERING. Seeing so many old friends, supportive fans, and incredible folks coming together to help us realize a wild dream makes my heart feel like bursting into light.
I cannot express how grateful we are for all that you have given. It's simply amazing and unbelievably beautiful. Thank you.
The journey continues. There are many more expenses, strategic planning, and plain good 'ol fashioned WORK to be done to get us ready for the big show... however, one thing is now sure. WE ARE GOING TO EDINBURGH! We have plane tickets, our housing is now secure and paid for... the show will go on!
Glorious, glorious, glory.
Thank you, so very much.
Juli, the Evangenitals, and the Quixote crew
Update #6: Holy Moly!!! We're almost there!!
Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU to all who have donated!!!
As a special treat, when we hit our goal in 16 hours... and we WILL hit our goal... I think I may have to post a video update of me singing "You're the Best Around" from the Karate Kid. It's what keeps playing in my head, and my heart is singing. SINGING!!! We've really had some amazing donations come in during these final hours!
I'm so so so GRATEFUL to all of you for believing in the vision, the cause, the play, the people, the music, the Dawn of Quixote! We are so honored to be able to take this show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and we couldn't do it without you!
Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!!
Just a few more dollars, and we're there. It's a real nail biter!!! Please keep on posting on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc... tell your friends. We could use far more than $9999 for our trip, so even when we hit the goal, keep those pledges coming till the final moment!
See you when the countdown strikes DONE for the big celebration. :-)
Weeeeeee!
Juli & the Quixotic posse

Project By
Connected as Juli Crockett (1274 friends)
Juli Crockett's original work, "Dawn of Quixote: Chapter the First", inspired by the writings of philosopher Unamuno y Jugo, was featured two years in a row in Los Angeles' cutting edge theater festival "Edgefest" and was the grand opener for the Saturday Explorer Series at the 24th Street Theater in Los Angeles.
In August of 2009, "Dawn of Quixote" will be featured in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, featuring Shaughn Buchholz (Scrubs) as Quixote, Christopher Goodson (Cold Case) as Sancho, and opera singer Lisa Dee (Killsonic, Evangenitals) as Dulcinea.
Live original score is performed by the Evangenitals, the art-county, hillbilly-funk, freak-folk band, for which Crockett is lead vocalist and principal songwriter.
Described as "Cosmic Square Dance" and "Hillbilly Jazz", Juli Crockett and The Evangenitals are opening people's minds and ears to a new style of Southern music. Though based in the roots of Country, the band incorporates a wide variety of influences, instrumentation and styles. The result is a genre-hopping bull ride that has music fans and critics buzzing in Los Angeles.
