About this project
The Dawn of Quixote: Chapter the First has been invited to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland! Two solid weeks of shows, running from August 8th-22nd, are already booked and listed in the official festival program... now we simply need to GET to SCOTLAND!
Written and directed by Juli Crockett and starring Shaughn Buchholz (Scrubs) as Quixote, Christopher Goodson (Cold Case) as Sancho, and Lisa Dee (Evangenitals, Killsonic) as Dulcinea, the Dawn of Quixote is a philosophical and musical exploration of the first chapter of Don Quixote. Live original score is performed by Los Angeles art-country band The Evangenitals featuring lead guitarist Henry Bermudez, drummer David Hurlin, fiddler Andrea Baker, bassist Matt Ticciati, accordion squeezer Ari DeSano, and singer/songwriter Juli Crockett.

Our show is being produced in part by California Institute of the Arts, who will be supplying us with a venue & promotional support in Edinburgh. We need to raise the majority of the funds ourselves to cover transportation, room, and board.
Our TOTAL fundraising goal is over $40,000... so donations above and beyond the $9999 goal are warmly welcomed and highly encouraged! WE WILL ONLY receive your donations IF we hit our $9999 minimum goal... so please help us get there!
The focus of this Kickstarter page is to raise funds for the transportation of our cast, the band, scenery/costumes, and instruments. Other expenses include, room and board while in Edinburgh, construction of scenery, props, and costumes, and covering the basic needs of 9 brave souls willing to take 3 weeks out of their lives to make ART in EDINBURGH!
We're offering a variety of exciting incentives for donors to the the Quixotic Cause... from CD's to Singing Telegrams, personal postcards to signed posters. We will be holding many fundraisers, concerts, and presentations of the play & music in and around Los Angeles leading up to our departure for Edinburgh. All donors will get updates and invites to these events.

Juli Crockett's original work, "Dawn of Quixote: Chapter the First", inspired by the writings of philosopher Unamuno y Jugo, was featured two years in a row in Los Angeles' cutting edge theater festival "Edgefest" and was the grand opener for the Saturday Explorer Series at the 24th Street Theater in Los Angeles.
In August of 2009, "Dawn of Quixote" will be featured in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, featuring Shaughn Buchholz (Scrubs) as Quixote, Christopher Goodson (Cold Case) as Sancho, and opera singer Lisa Dee (Killsonic, Evangenitals) as Dulcinea.
Live original score is performed by the Evangenitals, the art-county, hillbilly-funk, freak-folk band, for which Crockett is lead vocalist and principal songwriter.
Described as "Cosmic Square Dance" and "Hillbilly Jazz", Juli Crockett and The Evangenitals are opening people's minds and ears to a new style of Southern music. Though based in the roots of Country, the band incorporates a wide variety of influences, instrumentation and styles. The result is a genre-hopping bull ride that has music fans and critics buzzing in Los Angeles.
