Why Dang?
Dang is my Mom’s name. It means “red” in Thai.
“Dang, that’s good!” often comes out of people’s mouths after they try our coconut chips.
What are Coconut Chips?
Coconut chips are a healthy snack with all the benefits of coconut oil. They're made from the copra (coconut meat), sliced out and toasted with sugar and salt.

The coconut chips are: Vegan, Gluten Free, No Cholesterol, No Dairy, No MSG
They’re versatile – they can be used as a topping for yogurt, salads, ice cream, baked goods, cereal, pancakes, and more.

Who carries Dang?
Currently about 15 stores in SF, NYC, and Seattle carry our chips. See our website for a store near you.
We have Whole Foods waiting to get some. Chobani uses it as a yogurt topping at their retail store in Manhattan.
When did Dang begin?
A year ago we came up with the concept at the SF Underground Farmer's Market. We set out to make a recipe for Thai Lettuce Wraps, and found the toasted coconut to be irresistibly delicious! Since then, we’ve designed packaging and contacted suppliers, arranged shipping from Thailand, and struck up relationships with buyers. Now we need your help to pull the trigger on our first large shipment. Up until now, we’ve sold small batches to select stores, but it’s time to grow!
We need to get a container full of chips.
The money will be used for:
- Paying for the production run
- Packaging, Boxes, Shipping, Warehousing
- Attending events to spread word about Dang
About the Dang family:

We believe in the 3 Cs and 4 Fs:
Family - We are a family company, and as such we support each other to the fullest.
Friends - We treat our partners and customers as we would treat our friends…with respect.
Fun - We're happy and we know it!
Food - We live to eat and we love to share what we eat.
Culture - We're aware of those things that are ingrained by one's upbringing and value the richness of diversity that exists in this wonderful world.
Community - We think community is the best way to live a fulfilling life on this earth so we strive to create beautiful communities and give back to our community.
Creativity - We're into trying new things. We take risks, we experiment, we prototype and iterate…and we'll continue to do so always and forever.

FAQ
-
Great question! At this point, we would LOVE to source organic and fair trade coconuts but this market for coconuts isn't quite as developed as for coffee and chocolate. Ideally, we will help to create the demand for sustainably-grown coconuts in order to increase transparency along the coconut supply chain. Believe us, we want more than anything to source responsibly, but we need to build the purchasing volume in order to make these types of demands from our suppliers.
