Update #4: Backer Rewards
CDS, POSTERS, HUGS, & HANDSHAKES
Well friends, no sooner had we returned from our tour then we became swamped with performances, recordings, and various other band projects. Though we are a little behind with delivering our reward, we have set up a tour-recap performance at the Club 54 in Sterling Heights on Thursday, May 10th, at 8pm. I hope you can attend to receive your much deserved rewards for backing our very successful 2012 "Old School" tour. In addition to performing songs from the tour and songs from our latest CD, we'll also include some new tunes that we've been developing since our return. We can't wait to see you all and, in the words of Duke Ellington, "We love you madly."

Update #1: The Backing Is Gaining Speed.
Friends, I just want to take a moment to thank all of those who have backed our project already. We are nearly half way to our $1500 goal. We are currently in the process of choosing our vehicle(s) for the trip, and will be looking at tour buses sometime in the next week. In the meantime the band has been honing our music and creating for the road a great set that will delight and entertain audiences across the country. We're adding blues vocalist and harpist Dan Devins to the roster for the trip, and we'll be featuring some down-and-dirty blues tunes at the Low Country Blues Festival in South Carolina. If you're interested in seeing what we've got in store for the road, please come on out and say hello to us at some of our upcoming performances. We'll be playing tonight, Saturday, Jan. 7th, at the Harbor House in Detroit, 440 Clinton Street, at 9:30 tonight. Until then, keep on swingin'!

Not your grand parents swing band (aka the Space Age Swing Band). A typical Planet D Nonet gig might involve very early jazz from Louis Armstrong or Mezz Mezzrow, Duke Ellington & Fletcher Henderson swing charts from the '30's, proto-Detroit R&B from Paul "Huckelbuck" Williams, King Porter or Todd Rhodes or space-age jazz from Sun Ra. The PD9 can play a swing dance, a concert performance a small pub or an art gallery. Whatever they do, they always have a Detroit twist & plenty of good humor with an eye toward turning people onto this music. A down & dirty good time band.
