About this project
Evolution Percussion Duo is comprised of percussionists Maria Finkelmeier and Jacob Remington, and is currently based in Piteå, Sweden.
We’ve started this project to expand the current repertoire of duo music for percussion, and to highlight our generation's voice in the percussive arts. In order to do this, we are commissioning four great composers to write pieces for us. The composers we have chosen are:
Casey Cangelosi - www.caseycangelosi.com
Dave Hall - www.dhallmusic.com
Baljinder Sekhon - www.sekhonmusic.com
David Skidmore - www.davidskidmorepercussion.com
In addition to these commissioned works, we will each write our own piece and receive a work dedicated to us by Csaba Zoltán Marján in July. This brings the total number of new duo pieces to seven!
Once we reach our goal and the pieces are written, we will tour the US and Europe in Fall 2011 using the new works as the concert program. After the tour, we will come back to Piteå, and record the pieces and release our first CD!
We want this project to not only inspire musicians, but new audiences and listeners as well. This project will cross international boundaries while uniting cultures through the arts.
Check out our websites, Facebook us, and follow us on Twitter to find out more about our crazy endeavors! Thanks for taking your time to check us out!!!

Although Jake and Maria's first meeting in Paris was brief, it was obvious that their similar musical ambitions and outgoing personas would bring them together again. When a new opportunity in Piteå Sweden came up a year later, it did not take Maria long to convince Jake to uproot his life and join her in the arctic north. Evolution Percussion Duo was officially initiated at the start of 2011 to create new repertoire and highlight our generation's voice in the percussive arts.
