Update #8: Season's Greetings from Green Corn!
Dear Supporters and Fans of Green Corn,
My sincerest apologies for the long delay in updates. Since wrapping principal photography in late July, members of Green Corn’s cast and crew have returned to their respective homes, from the near to the far-flung, from Tennessee to New York, Alabama, Chicago, Arizona, and elsewhere (N.C.), where we all (somewhat grudgingly) resumed the jobs and lives we put on hold for the month-and-change of our shoot. With the green days of summer behind us, the daunting task of syncing, assembling and editing the massive mountain of material we shot could now begin, and it’s essentially where we still find ourselves today.
I am happy to say that we are finally closing in on a rough cut of the film, with a run-time hovering right around 1hr 40 min, which means we will soon be able to enter the sound design and color correction stages, in preparation for festival submission in the Spring of 2011. Until we reach that rough cut, there’s little incentive to share unfinished scenes or other material that’s currently ‘under construction’, scenes which we know will only get better as the work proceeds.
Meanwhile, in the premium department, we are stoked to be working with Nick DuPey of YoungMonster, a graphic design firm in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on an upgraded Green Corn logo and poster elements, which will then make their way onto the silkscreen posters and t-shirts. These are the central elements of the promotional materials that we’ll be producing in conjunction with our festival submissions, and we will share these new designs with you as soon as they are ready. Needless to say, the DVDs themselves will not be available until the film is done, but yours will be the first we press and mail.
And so, the work proceeds. This is essentially all I wanted to say, along with Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and also to assure you all that we haven’t forgotten about the incredible support of our Kickstarter family. While post-production is a long and arduous process, none of us ever thought this would be easy, much less quick. But we are well on our way, and the film gets a bit better every day. As soon as clips have passed our high standards, we will gladly share them will all of you. Polished gems only! And please, if you don’t already, follow Green Corn on facebook, for more recent updates! ~ www.facebook.com/greencornmovie
Thanks & Be Merry!

Update #7: We Made It. Thanks to you.
29 days on location in Cocke County. 25 days of shooting, many of them 14 hrs or more, on the hottest days East Tennessee has seen this year (so far). Miraculously, the only snakes we ran into were the ones we brought with us, and from June 8 until July 13, it only rained twice. Fortunately and with much relief, soon as we wrapped - here come the rains.
We couldn't have asked for better weather, or a better group of people to shoot with. And did you see those helicopters? Dang! And let me say that I personally am very grateful and humbled by each of our backers as well as for all of the gracious response our film received here on Kickstarter. Y'all totally rock.
We made it. With your help. And we cannot thank you enough for your pledges, which will help make our bottom line slightly more plausible. . . But just so you know, this pledge drive was also responsible for an incredible feeling of support and goodwill among the cast and crew during the shoot, because every day that we got to hear the Kickstarter updates (whenever the internets were briefly available to someone on set), just knowing that people were rooting for us, far away from the hot, sticky, and chiggery mountains of East Tennessee, made the enormity of the heat and our task all the more bearable. On behalf of all of us, thank you for your generous support of Green Corn!
We'll soon be contacting Backers regarding your rewards - someof which are contingent upon completion of the movie - so please stay tuned for those. And for all, expect more updates to come as we move through post-production and towards festival distribution.
Now let the editing begin, because I for one am ready to see this thing.
