The Texas legend of the Sam Bass Gang, a group of notorious outlaws best known for committing the largest train robbery in U.S history.
Thank you everyone for helping us reach our goal!!!
However, there's more work to be done. We now have the theater rental covered, but we still have a steep costume budget to fill out. With a minimal set, having costumes that shine will really help us create the world these outlaws lived and died in.
We're really hoping to get to $6,000 when all's said and done, so the more help the better!
Thanks for checking us out, and for all your support!!!
The Play: Round Rock is the Texas legend of the Sam Bass Gang, a group of notorious outlaws in the late 1800's best known for committing one of the largest train robberies in U.S. history. At the center of a jurisdictional crisis between the old and new law enforcement agencies of America, the gang must choose between a life of adventure and a life of convention. A story about love and friendship, this Western epic from acclaimed playwright Aaron Kozak (The Birthday Boys) blends old fashioned rustic charm with a darkly comic style.
The Pitch: This is an ambitious endeavor to undertake for the Fringe. Because of the abbreviated run, there is less chance of returning a major profit and thus less chance for traditional investment to mount this beautiful work. From the gun belts and boots, to the bodices and elaborate dresses, we need all the help we can get to properly capture the look of the time. I truly believe that this project will be a wonderful success (hopefully winning an award or two) and, if all goes well, carry the momentum into future runs both in LA, and around the world. I thank each and every one of you that chooses to contribute and promise you a show you will not soon forget.
Please note: Tickets are $15 a piece.

Theatre Unleashed celebrates the creative collaboration process by encouraging its members to explore fresh, thought-provoking approaches to both original works and established shows. From its Main Stage season, to its Late Night shows, Fringe shows, Children's Shows, etc., we provide a vast and eclectic assortment of challenging, relevant and whimsical entertainment for all.
The Playwright: Aaron Kozak has been doing theater for 20 years, debuting in “Camelot” in 1990 at the Lamplight Theatre in Nacogdoches, Texas. Since then, he’s performed in over forty plays, 7 feature films, and countless shorts. As a playwright, he was privileged to be affiliated with the International Fringe circuit. His play “Goodbye, Love. Goodbye, Joy. Hello, Travis McElroy.” was performed at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC; and his play "The Birthday Boys" received several awards and nominations at the 2010 Hollywood Fringe Festival. "The Birthday Boys" also just received several TUny Awards, including one for Best Play, and was listed as one of Los Angeles' top 10 plays of 2011 . In May of 2011, "The Birthday Boys" was the first play produced since the Vaudeville era at the historic Texas Theatre, where Lee Harvey Oswald was captured after shooting JFK, and made its New York debut in September 2011 to rave reviews. "The Birthday Boys" made it's international debut in December of 2011 as part of NIDA's springboard program in Sydney, Australia. Aaron has a B.F.A. in Drama from the University of Oklahoma.
