Why Tribu Sole Initiative?
With all the environmental issues we’ve been facing, one wonders: how do I play my part in saving the environment? Here is an opportunity for you to make a direct impact by removing trashed rubber tires from the more than 242 million tires discarded annually. Fewer than 7 percent are recycled.
At TRIBU, we consider ourselves a nation intrinsically connected to nature. That’s because we spend the better half of the day outdoors. We take ownership of this planet and we constantly consider how our practices affect it.
This is the part of the story where the rubber meets the road. We wanted to create a sole that embraced that concept.So, we handcrafted soles from discarded tires. By recycling rubber that was doomed to a landfill and giving it a second life, we created the TRIBU Sole Initiative, “Upcycled.”

OUR PRODUCT LAUNCH WILL BE SEPTEMBER 6 - 8 AT THE ORLANDO SURF EXPO'S "GREEN ZONE"
The Tribu Sole Initiative is a launch of the "Upcycled" fashion line. The money you contribute will enable us to showcase our product at the Orlando, Florida Surf Expo this September. The launch is to be held in conjunction with the Surf Expo on September 6-8, 2012 in Orlando. We are pioneering the very first "Green Zone" with the I Ride I Recycle movement. This new section at the highly attended Surf Expo will showcase the product to over 20,000 attendees of like-minded individuals, retailers and distributors. This is one of the largest trade shows that targets surfers, who as a whole are environmentally conscious consumers who will embrace both the product and the philosophy.

How They Are Made
The Upcycled footwear capitalizes on the principle of upcycling, the process of reusing discarded or trash materials into something else completely usable again. Upcycled Footwear is created from discarded rubber tires, which would otherwise join the 242 million tires discarded yearly. The Upcycled footwear line is crafted by hand, sacrificing neither form nor function.
