We are excited to present to you a new project entitled “The Storyteller” that is underway at Fitchburg State University. From director Nick Krassowski (two time LaCoy Script Writing Competition winner), producer Kenny Caudill (TELE and ACM-NE award recipient), and a camera department that has worked on two features and countless shorts, comes a story that is both magical and thrilling, drawing upon childhood memories, hopes, and fears, uniting real life with fantasy. The production is visually intensive, employing a huge and diverse art department with skills from technical theater to graphic design.

“It’s a stormy night... Seven year-old Liam watches the rain and lightning tensely through his window as his family argues beyond the crack in his door. The argument leaves seventeen year-old Peter upset with his time-obsessed father and at home. Clenching his teeth, Peter turns to find his younger brother awake and in the hallway. He asks what Liam wants and Liam asks Peter to tell him a story...

What begins as a simple bedtime story turns into a tale connecting the world of fantasy to members of the household, facets of reality, and an understanding between the two brothers that had previously been unclear.

Through telling a story, it is possible to learn something of yourself...”

We have high hopes and strong determination to design and construct elaborate costuming, set pieces, and sweeping cinematic angles, all working toward recreating a fantastical story told by a child. We have a dedicated crew of both students and non-students alike, all working together, bringing their own strengths to the table while learning from others. We believe this will be a great experience for everyone involved with the production of the film.

As with any creative endeavor we are extremely budget conscious. We have a lot to do, but the reality is: we need your help. Unlike in the forest we intend to build, we know in reality money doesn’t grow on trees, but any you can donate will help us create this ambitious film.
