About this project
QUICK OVERVIEW
What would you say to the Next Generation? Would you warn them about the dangers of offshore drilling or would you encourage them to learn about different cultures and people.
The Say Something Poster Project is a poster design competition and gallery show created to give individuals an opportunity to use poster design to say something that will inspire, motivate or educate teenage kids.
The top 10 posters from the competition will be donated to The Home for Little Wanderers, a non-profit children's home and family service agency located throughout Eastern Massachusetts, USA.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Not everyone who has something important to say can afford to enter a design competition. That's why there is NO entry fee for our competition nor are we asking designers to print their own posters. That means we have to raise funds to cover costs like printing, marketing and prizes for the winners.
THE MOST IMPORTANT DETAIL
UNLESS WE RAISE $5000 BY SEPTEMBER 02, THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE FUNDED.
PLEASE HELP US REACH OUR GOAL SO THAT WE CAN HOST AN AWESOME COMPETITION AND DONATE POSTERS TO THE HOME FOR LITTLE WANDERERS!!
MORE DETAILS
The goal of this poster project is to support The Home’s counseling and educational services by reshaping their surroundings with engaging imagery. Posters will be used as a tool for group discussions, writing exercises, debating contests, and artist/designer visits to encourage creativity among youth.
Ultimately, posters will provide a source of positive reinforcement that the kids will be exposed to everyday. This is a long term benefit for kids who live at The Home or attend programs over a period of years.
The design competition will bring attention to at-risk kids but also give designers an opportunity to do something that directly benefits those kids.
Most poster projects create awareness or at best, generate funds that are then donated to an organization. Our project uses the posters themselves as the primary benefit to the kids we intend to serve.
DETERMINING THE WINNERS
There will be 3 independent rounds of judging.
- The first round will take place on our website and determine the top 100 designs.
- The second round is a 5 person judging panel that will review the top 100 designs and select their top 25.
- The third and final round will take place at the gallery show where full size prints of the 25 semifinalist will be voted on by event attendees to determine the 10 winners.

Hey there, I'm a strong believer in design as a tool for tackling the world's “wicked problems” and I love working on projects that embody form and function to make the world a better place.
