Instead of writing a novel as part of NaNoWriMo this year, I'm designing one instead. [November is National Novel Writing Month.] I will re-typeset the classic stories of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass in an easy-to-read trade format. One of the problems I've noticed with current copies is they keep the emphasis in ALL CAPS, because the source is plain text. This seriously disrupts reading flow.

A few people close to me are avid readers with failing eyesight. Large-print books are not necessarily easy to read because either the books are too large or there are too few words on each page. I want to create something well-designed for everyone to enjoy. Expect updates with finished pages to get a true preview of the work involved.

The book will be available in both hardcover and paperback editions, both trade-sized, or 6x9 inches. It will include reproductions of the original illustrations by John Tenniel. I want to print these no matter what, so I'm setting a low goal. If there is enough interest, I can print the hardcovers in offset instead of digital. The timing is also short on this to have a chance to deliver for the holidays.
