About this project

We are planning to release 3 EP's over the next year that will build into a full-length album in stages. Given the immediacy of how we expect to hear music in our digital age, it is an experiment in how to make an album meaningful and allow it to change over time. It also means 3 times in the studio, 3 printing costs and 3 promotional campaigns.

To be able to release each well, we need your support. Whether it is simply pre-ordering the EP's at their most basic level, or something more in-depth (like an original work of art based on the album!), we want to invite you into the process as well. Since we will be releasing the EP's in quick succession, we will have to pay much of the costs of the recording and packaging before we can start selling them. The money raised will help cover the basic costs of recording, design, promotion and packaging, which will end up costing close to $10,000 (so our goal is just a fraction of the cost). As artists ourselves, we also want to pay artists to help make the album packaging and create objects worth owning. It's a micro-economy, see?

We are already finished with the first EP, What Frontier, and we think it is pretty rad. Rad enough you'd want to buy it if you could. Or download it with BitTorrent, but it isn't available yet, so you might as well pre-order it and then release it on Bit Torrent for all your friends. US English, a Saint Louis-based band comprised of James and Brea McAnally, have been hibernating with their synthesizers and old St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper clips in order to create a distinctive step into unfamiliar terrain combining elements of Minimalism, Opera, Avante Garde electronics, and 60's pop with literate lyrics and a distinctive visual aesthetic.
