Thank you so much to everyone thats supported thus far. We still need a lot of help, flight tickets have been bought and the band are broke. If we don't reach our kickstarter target, the band won't have money for the subway between Brooklyn and Manhattan, much less gettin' to Texas. How many good German bands are there these days? Have you ever actually seen one? America, now's your chance, and your chance to support!
The Blue Angel Lounge (Hagen, Germany) recently released their second album "Narcotica" via Berlins independent label 8MM Musik and Anton Newcombe's A Records.
Invited and scheduled to play at this years SXSW, they were forced to cancel due to budgetary considerations. Austin Psych Fest followed shortly with an invitation of their own, and this time BAL are determined to make it. They just need a little support. Meanwhile they are hard at work on their third full length.
Founded in 2006 by Nils Ottensmeyer and Dennis 'Mel' Melster, they completed their self-titled debut in 2008 of which 500 vinyl copies were self-released. One of the copies made it into the hands of Will Carruthers of Spacemen 3, who subsequently passed it on to a friend at 8MM Musik. The band were signed shortly after.
An appearance at the UK's Dream Machine Festival in 2008 led to the track 'The God', from their debut, being included on the UK neo-psych compilation 'Open Your Mind', later pronounced DIY Compilation Of The Week by the BBC in 2009.
Their their first ever show in Berlin in 2009 impressed Anton Newcombe enough to offer to help with production on their second record.
Narcotica was self produced at Studio East in the former Communist East German sound recording complex in Berlin, Germany. Mr. Newcombe can be heard singing backing vocals on "Delete My Ideals", and is an often touring member of the band.
Most recently the band have supported the likes of Interpol and A Place To Bury Strangers in Germany.
