We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Funded! This project successfully raised its funding goal on December 31, 2011.

Photo-main

Based on the comic by Khang Le, the story tells of the friendship between a robot and a young girl.

THE CAPSTONE

My goal with this senior capstone film is to create something that will display all the different techniques, processes, and theories I've learned throughout my college years and serve as a gateway into the professional world. By involving myself in every aspect of its creation from the writing and designing to the fabrication of the puppets and cinematography I hope to create something unique. After reading Outside My Window I fell in love with the idea of combining live-action and stop motion to re-create the narrative. It was an intimidating idea, but it allowed for a much richer way to tell the story than only live action would have.

However, because of this process we need your help! Everyone working on this film is working for free. But that means we still have to feed our crew, dress the sets, and create our beautiful animated world. This is why your help is so important to us. Every cent donated to this project goes back into it whether that means parts for puppets or materials for sets. We're asking for the bare minimum to fulfill our needs and we are hoping to raise a little extra for sound design if possible

If money isn't an option we would be so grateful if you shared our project with others through facebook, email, and twitter.

THE STORY

Donna is a young girl who wakes up to find she's home alone. After halfheartedly searching for her mother she enjoys her time alone in the house. However, the moment Donna steps outside her day takes an interesting turn as she's confronted by a large robot.

Outside My Window is a short comic written by Khang Le that we are adapting to film. The short will be half live action and half stop motion animation

THE TEAM

I could never do all of this on my own! One of the most important and fun aspects of film-making is the teamwork and collaboration that happens. Thankfully, I have enlisted the help of some talented individuals for my capstone. Helping me with almost every decision along the way is one of my best friends Michael Knepprath. He is the most talented guy I know and brings mounds of knowledge to the production. There's no one I'd rather have in the trenches with me than him. Marie Rose is one of the most dedicated and enthusiastic people I know, without her everything would be chaos. Her love for film and organization made her an easy choice and a key component to the whole project. Another key to this project's success is the support and help of our friends here on campus and in the studio at Bethany.

THE PRODUCTION

This film will be a ten minute short and production is taking place right now until the beginning of May.

Pre-production is currently under way and moving rapidly (look for updates on our websitefacebook, twitter). We have a very tight schedule, but we love the challenge. Our goal is to finish with storyboards, style frames, animatics, and other concept work by the end of December and begin fabricating the sets and puppets as soon as possible (which is what the kickstarter fund is going towards). During that time we will also be getting everything in order for our live action filming. The filming starts in the beginning of March and post-production will soon follow.
