Update #11 · Jun 24, 2012 · comment

Hello everybody!

Everything's DONE. All the backer rewards have been created, Moxie's travel diary is written, put together, printed, bound, stuffed into envelopes, and on top of that, Moxie's MAGAZINE, "Lead Jammer" is OUT and it not only has one of my photos from the trip on the cover, but a two page spread on the inside of photos that you helped make real.

Thank you so much for that. I posted an update to the blog:

http://rollerderbyportraits.tumblr.com/

which has a thumbnail of the magazine cover.

One thing I'm writing about is that SOME OF YOU STILL HAVEN'T SENT YOUR ADDRESS IN -- so your rewards are sitting under my sofa. Waiting. If you haven't done that, please do.

Thanks so very, very much.

Have a great day. You can keep up with the roller derby portrait project on the blog or by "liking" the facebook page:

be well,

Kyle (& Moxie)

rewards to go and other news

Update #10 · Jun 10, 2012 · comment

Hello everyone - the last of the backer rewards are set to go out late this week or early next, these are the bound copies of Moxie's travel diary, they're going to include some extra 4x6 prints.

There are also a number of people who've not answered the message asking for their address, if you didn't order one of the bound travel diaries and you're wondering where your reward is, check your inbox for a note from kickstarter asking you for your address.

I met some truly incredible people -- thanks in part to all of you.

thanks so much for that,

Kyle

Rewards out the door, travel diary plus DC rollergirls

Update #9 · May 24, 2012 · comment

Hola!

A new set of kickstarter rewards are out the door and there's a new travel diary from this trip up at http://rollerderbyportraits.tumblr.com -- this is part three.

Moxie's finished her own travel diary for the people who are getting a bound copy of that, we're going through it and formatting it now and adding some photographs. It'll probably be two weeks before that goes out. Also, there's some nice news about my portraits and the next issue of Lead Jammer Magazine which I'll wait till it's writ in stone before I mention.

In other news, I'm off to Washington DC this weekend to photograph the DC Rollergirls. I'll be posting updates to the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/RollerDerbyPortraits) and to the blog where you can follow along.

Thanks so much for your help,

Kyle

Update #8 · May 13, 2012 · comment

Hello everyone -- about 80% of the Kickstarter rewards have been sent out, there are still some stragglers and also the rewards where people get to pick their prints, those people should hear from me very shortly. If you've gotten prints and you framed them and hung them up, I'd love it if you could take a digital snapshot & mail it to me so I can see how people are fitting the art in their houses.

Moxie's been typing away at her travel diary for people in that pledge level and I've seen the first draft of it -- It'll probably take a couple of weeks to get that bound, get photos in it, and get it printed and shipped.

There are two new websites that deal with the larger Roller Derby Portraits Project (and you can get to all of this from rollerderbyportraits.com) there's a Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/RollerDerbyPortraits

and a tumblr blog:

http://rollerderbyportraits.tumblr.com/

One of the best things you can do to help this book be real is to "like" the facebook page and suggest it to your friends. It's going to be a lot easier to sell this to a publisher if there's a facebook page with 3,000 fans.

Thanks so much people, for helping to make all this happen.

Kyle

Update #7 · May 4, 2012 · comment

Hello everybody -- I'm back in Philadelphia and sorting through hundreds of photos, Moxie's back in England typing up her travel diary and everybody has been profoundly touched by this week. The first group of Kickstarter backers have gotten an email requesting their addresses and I'm going to be sending things out in batches, one group at a time, to avoid confusion.

In the meantime, this is what you're in for. Here's Marge Hadron Collider, #85 from the NSRG Killmore Girls. Thanks for making this possible.

- Kyle
