Meet Honey and the Sting.  We're a new band from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT with strong East Coast ties.  We recently finished writing a 10 song album about the Connecticut River.  The river's fascinating history, biology, and geology inspired us to celebrate the river's beauty as well as its ferocity.  We were frustrated with scientific papers and essays so we made this album with the intention of creating an accessible experience that encourages people to respect their local resources.

This spring we performed a concert in Wesleyan's Memorial Chapel and now we want to share our "locavore" mission with a larger audience.  The start of this process is the release of our concert recordings on our bandcamp.  We are very proud of these recordings and they should give you an idea of the songs and our sound.

Now we're trying to raise money to pay for studio time at Jersville Recordings in Woodstock, NY.  We recorded in June, and we would like to pay our wonderful engineer and mix and master the album.  The total cost will be $5,000.  We're keeping our costs down by working with people that are excited about our project and our mission.

Since environmental mindfulness was built into the process of writing the songs, we would like to continue being conscious of how our album impacts the environment.  That's why we have decided to release the album through the internet with a limited hand printed CD release.  If we go above our goal we will use the money to offset the energy used to record the album by purchasing wind and solar credits from http://www.nativeenergy.com
