Two criminals return from the afterlife bestowed with supernatural powers and abilities. One will seek revenge. The other redemption.
Hi I’m Jason Wolf, the writer and creator of Stitch, a noir supernatural graphic novel. Thank you for stopping by to see what this is about. Let me tell you a little bit about the project and then later, a little bit about me and why I’m here.
STORY SYNOPSIS: Stitch is a noir, action thriller that revolves around a hired “leg breaker” named Kyle Knox. He wants out of the business, while his ex-partner, David Grimmison looks to become the next crime lord of Central City. When there paths conflict, the two kill each other in a double cross. Through the power of modern science, they are brought back to life and given a second chance. However when they do return, something is different… Both men return to the world plagued by visions and possessing supernatural abilities bestowed upon them from the afterlife. One man seeks revenge; the other, redemption. And both seek answers for who they’ve now become and their true purpose in life.

The story centers around Kyle Knox, a hired “leg breaker” who becomes a reluctant hero. Later he will assume a necessary secret identity known as Stitch. The bold stitch marks that appear on his arms and legs pay homage to the scars underneath his protective body armor from when he was stitched back together. His signature body armor helps keep him alive.

His nemesis and old partner David Grimmison, who will later be known as Grimm, wears a duster made from the same protective material that Stitch’s body armor is made of.

The logo I designed is meant to represent our human duality, the light and darkness we have within us all. This theme runs throughout the story and represents not only what’s going on with the main character Kyle, but all the characters within the story.
THE CHARACTERS

Born and raised on the streets Kyle came up the hard way. In order to survive he learned how to fight. Trained in both street fighting and the martial arts, he's a criminal who uses his talents to collect debts owed to Central City’s most notorious crime lord. However, Kyle is also a man tormented by both what is right and wrong. His demons haunt his soul while his consciousness guides him. He is faced with not only trying to rediscover who he must be, but also let go of who he once was. His newfound abilities, bestowed upon him from the afterlife, make his life even more complicated. However these new powers also come with a greater responsibility - something Kyle doesn’t want. He is a tormented man who seeks answers, clarity and something to fill the void within his soul.

David Grimmison, leg breaking partner to Kyle Knox, uses his fists like his mind, with power and manipulation. Once he returns from death, he emerges as a monster known as Grimm. He now struggles to make sense of who he has become by creating in the outside world that which lives within him - death and darkness. His troubled soul asks him to fulfill a destiny that will question and challenge him as to why he is truly here and why life gave him a second chance. No one person’s life will be spared in the attempt to fulfill his purpose.

After losing his wife many years ago, Dr. Clemens poured himself into his work. There were discoveries that allowed him play God - a power his consciousness couldn’t accept - so he abandoned his research. However his secrets are no longer a secret. Now, Dr. Clemens must not only undo the damage his research has created, but also use it to make things better. Trained in both Eastern and Western medicine, he uses what he knows of the medical and spiritual world to help make things right once again.

A tough scientist who has spent most of her years buried in books, her work and any other distraction that would keep her away from dealing with the questions, anger and fear of what her life is truly about. Her past has left her scared, however there seems to be a chance at a future, should she work beyond her own demons.

Central City’s public enemy number one, he has ruled the streets with an iron and paranoid fist. He’s made a lot of enemies and few friends, however one of his friends is trying to save him, while the other wants to kill him. His life and plans will intersect with that of his two former employees, Kyle and David. Hard choices must be made in order for his plans to work out.

Jacobs is a lonely detective whose life revolves around busting his nemesis, Victor Vasco. Hard as he tries, Det. Jacobs seems to be always just one step behind. However, while he attempts to bust the city’s most infamous crime lord, he begins to discover the city has a much greater threat than just Victor Vasco. He will need to call upon the help of a man whom he once considered an enemy to end a killing spree that is now terrorizing the city.

WHY I CREATED THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL. My mother raised me to be open minded and to consider the possibilities of such things as the afterlife, ghosts, UFO’s, signs and messages - the things in life that cannot be explained. She had an open mind and inspired the same within me. Seven years ago, I lost my mother to cancer. Within that same year I lost two other best friends of mine, my grandparents. Needless to say during this time, I found myself in a dark place. Slowly, over time, I began to emerge from the darkness. It was at this time I began to change my perspective about life, death and the power of the afterlife. Because I write from my personal experiences I was inspired to infuse many of the mysteries of life that I knew for certain weren’t just... things of fiction: Signs and messages - the things that reach out in our lives to try to get our attention; the mysteries of intuition, voices of wisdom, visions and the unexplainable things associated with the supernatural. That was when Stitch became an outlet to express something far greater than just a story of revenge and redemption. It was an opportunity to connect life with the afterlife, or whatever is out there... waiting for us all.

HOW I GOT THIS FAR. Once I felt I had a story worth telling, I took every dime I saved and set out to make the best graphic novel I could. However, I quickly discovered I didn’t have the funds to pay for all necessary artists to pull off my ambitious 225 page graphic novel. Then a miracle happened. I had the great fortune of meeting a talented artist by the name of Nathanel Lark. He could illustrate, ink, color and letter the book himself – a job of four people, all within my budget. However there was one caveat. Because he was one man doing the job of many it would take a long time to complete. Because we both believed in the story, we shook hands and got to work.

After I paid Nathanel to complete the novel, built a simple website and made a few promotional items, I was financially tapped out. I had spent everything I had to get this far. I no longer had the funds to pay for the necessary books so I could launch Stitch, advertise so people knew about the graphic novel, or convert Stitch into an E-Book so people could read it on their tablets & phones. As I write this, Comic-Con 2012 is just wrapping up, and as much as I wanted to be there to show Stitch to other graphic novel reading enthusiasts, I simply couldn’t afford it. So here I am on Kickstarter, on a wing and prayer we will make our way into print, and who knows, maybe next year we’ll actually be at Comic-Con.
HERE ARE SOME SAMPLE PAGES FROM "STITCH"

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU!
Maybe you believe in the characters, or the story? Maybe you can relate to its message? Maybe you’d like to help launch something that’s not only entertaining but unique. I truly believe this graphic novel has the potential to be a successful book series and franchise. And all it needs is a friendly “kick-start.” And maybe you’d like to be part of that.
KEEP THIS MIND….
Because the graphic novel is already done, with the exception of a few modifications we might be making to accommodate some of the pledges, you should expect to receive your pledge promises within two to three months.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to see what "Stitch" is about.
