M. David Hornbuckle is originally from Birmingham, Alabama. He has published many short stories in a wide variety of literary magazines, and he is the author of two books: The Salvation of Billy Wayne Carter (Tritone 2009) and Zen, Mississippi (Tritone 2010).
He has also been a bandleader and songwriter for more than twenty years, most notably with the groups PopCanon and the Dixieland Space Orchestra.
Hornbuckle has recently returned to Birmingham after many years in New York City. He works as a freelance writer and editor. He also leads the band Ghost Herd, is the managing editor of the Birmingham Free Press, and is the founding editor of the online literary journal Steel Toe Review.
